On our wedding/honeymoon/birthday trip, I would like to try one of these restaurants. Any recommendations on which to choose? Also, is it Chefs de France that you see coming into France with the big windows? If so where is the Bistro? TIA!

We love Chefs de France, great food! It is the one with the large windows and Bistro is upstairs

Let me give the disclaimer first--I have not been inside either restaurant. However, we are celebrating our 2nd anniversary in September, and after extensive! research, including researching photos, reviews and calling both places, we are going with Bistro. IMHO it's a bit more elegant--not necessarily nicer-just different. I guess I mean it's more of a candles and flowers type place. I wanted someplace quiet (WDW restaurants are a bit noisy) where we could hold hands and all that yucky stuff. And I wanted to wear a dress, albeit casual. There are tables by the windows which you can request ahead of time. Not guaranteed, of course. Have a great anniversary!

Well, I have never been in either one, but we are going to Chefs de France because they take the disney dining plan and bistro de paris dont. Thats it, plain and simple.

Chefs (downstairs) is noisy and crowded. Since the introduction of the Dining Plan it has been that way. You take a chance of being seated very close (snice the tables are inches from each other) to a family with bored children as we were the last time we ate there. Even late ressies (ie close to Illuminations) do not help that. I do not understand why people insist on bringing tired, grumpy children here. I also found the food quality has declined here since DDP.

If you want a quiet(er) romantic dinner go upsatirs to Bistro.

I am going to go with the Bistro for a quieter and more romantic place.

I am not going to be on the dining plan but it is good to know that it isn't included.

Thanks for all your answers! :thumbsup2

Excellent choice! Chefs is a wonderful dinner but Bistro is a wonderful experience. From start to finish, the service is the best. The food is wonderful. Wine selections are plentiful. And the desserts, amazing!

Chefs is a "disney" french restaurant...

Bistro is less "disney" more French, etc.

You pay more, but you get more of the French feeling at Bistro. And, yes, its more romantic.

We haven't eaten at Bistro since December of 2006 but will be dining there this December. We love everything about it. If offered, try the tasting menu with wine pairings. It was wonderful!

We've done both and Bistro is the better restaurant. Not that Chef's isn't good, it is, just that Bistro is nicer.

I agree with the poster who said that Chefs is Disney's version of French food
while Bistro is French food that happens to be located at Disney.

Both are good, but Bistro is better for quality, service, and ambience. :thumbsup2

Ive been to both..upstairs 4 years ago, downstairs 2 years ago. I wasnt crazy about either. It was almost like mass produced meat with some kind of sauce to make it taste a little better!

On the other hand...the Carriage House in Bermuda is one of my all time favorites...eat there before you go to Disney for your special meal!!!

I have always wanted to eat in France so I am still going to give the Bistro a try. I am hoping you just went on a bad day? :confused3

I haven't been to the Carriage House in years and my father in law was just here and wanted to go. He liked it so much he went twice for lunch and loved it. Dessert was delicious but I had pasta that had so much garlic on it, I could barely eat it!

You are right. Food is all a matter of opinion. What I dont like, others may love. I dislike tomatoes!! Look at how many millions of others like them. You will really enjoy it there..the ambiance itself is worth the trip.

PS...I would have loved the extra garlic!!!

DBF and I have been to and liked both of these.. but for a romantic meal we prefer Bistro

xxx

Well it looks like everyone is saying the Bistro. With everyone's reviews, I am really looking forward to going now!
