I'm thinking of packing some of those microwaveable meals for our trip. Will the metal lids cause a problem or be considered a "safety" issue.

You are welcome.

Nope, I sure don't have all the answers. I just know food is not forbidden, just discouraged and until it is forbidden I bring food items with me on trips. :)

Not sure about those meals but have brought canned soups, tuna, and Pasta Anytime(not foiled), and had no problems. Like Gail said, worst case they inspect it. Oooops, just reread, you said pop tops, I would say double no problem. I thought maybe they were sealed pouched that may raise suspicion.

For sure you all have good reasons for bringing food along on the airplane. Maybe there are favorite foods that you have stocked or gotten at great purchase prices. There are no doubt many good reasons for bringing food on the airplane and, in no way, is my post meant to question them.

Also, it may be a hassle to buy groceries on the way to WDW from MCO and everyone may be too excited about getting to WDW to stop along the way.

But, for others from foreign countries who are reading these posts and wonder about food shortages in Central Florida, Orlando is now a city of over 1.5 million and we do now have canned soups, tuna and pasta in all of the stores. Soon, we may be getting pop tarts in a limited number of stores on a trial basis to see if they will sell.

LOL,
Well, since I cannot find Dee's cereal ANYWHERE in your area, we pack that. I buy in bulk, so, I bring my laundry detergent, dryer sheets, and SOS with me. I also would really miss my bacon cooking rack and tea bags. Those are what I bring with me, the rest I get there. TG for SuperWal*Mart and Sam's. :)

Gail, I just KNEW that you would come up with some solid practical reasons for bringing things down on the airplane.

Now those laundry detergents, Bounce sheets, and SOS are all practical things to bring along, since they are easy to pack and you have bought in bulk. Same for the tea bags and the bacon cooking rack.

As to Dee's cereal, I understand that Kellog's is going to blitz the Orlando market soon with the 18 oz boxes of Sugar Corn Pops. But, until they do test market it locally and the Orlando Magic basketball team wins another three games (which could take another three months), the cereal won't be available here and I can understand why you would have to bring his cereal.

Kidding aside, I hope you don't get caught up in the bad weather up there and that you enjoy the trip to WDW. I see by your counter that it is soon. Have a good trip.

Thanks for the good wishes!!!! He won't eat Post anything, so the Corn Pops are out. He only eats (for cold cereal) Quaker Nuts and Twigs. :) That natural cereal with nuts and stuff in it.
I have yet to see it in any store. So, the box is packed. I am leaving shortly as we took a room near the airport, just in case.
Nothing like driving on the roads up here in the snow. The idiots abound!!!! :)
Looking forward to the nice weather, trust me.
Thanks, for the chuckle, btw. :)

No shortage in Orlando of food, but if someone gets transfers and not a rental car or a town car and does not make a grocery stop you are pretty well limited to what is at the resort store, and it's not really economical. We always have a studio and it it just easier to have most of what I need except for perishables. Even when we get a car DH hates to grocery shop, esp. on vacation. Also, if it's in my house it's free, so to speak. Yes we bring the laundry tablets and dryer sheets, ect. Anyone who wants to see the silly things people bring, hop on over to the DVC board and you will see what prepared is all about.

BTW-I bring pop-tarts too;)
