OK,
So we have a res at Chef Mickeys for our last night. I have read a lot of mixed eviews about it. Oh it will be me, the wife and ourt 2yo son.
Where else should we consider going
We already will have been at:
Boma
Ohana
Crystal Palace
Hollywood & Vine
Coral Reef

I though about whispering canyons but I think it may be a bit to much- Maybe next time when he is a bit older

Who is the dinner for mainly? If its for the DS2, Chef Mickey's. If its fornthe adults, go somewhere else (anywhere else).

Chef Mickey's is not the best dinner you will eat at Disney but it is an experience. It depends on your reasons for eating there. If you are looking for a really good meal I would say go else where but if you are looking for an expierence your 2 yr old will enjoy and get to meet Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Minnie and Pluto then its the place to go. IF you don't care about the Characters then I would go else where. Whispering is a great place. Its not to much and I think it has some of the best food at Disney.

I make sure we go to Chef Mickeys every trip. This Feb I'm taking my 4yr nephew for the first time. We have a res the first night.

I have been disappointed with chef mickeys over the past few years. The characters hardly spent time. And food was less than average. If anything go to breakfast, dinners r over crowded and the food is blah. We r skipping chef mickeys for our 2012 trips.

My BIL said it best. Anybody that goes to Chef Mickey's and cannot find at least one thing they like to eat and didn't have fun, didn't want to. If you're bothered by high energy fun, or looking for quiet and relaxing, don't go. Chef Mickey's is not the place for that. If you ate dinner at CP and H and V, I'd rate the dinner at CM ahead of the dinner at those two.

I disagree. I'd rate CM far below Crystal Palace. The food isnt very good, breakfast or dinner. The quality of food/temperature and selection comes to mind. Its much louder than CP too (if that matters to you at all). Doesnt bother me much, but i thought i should mention it. We've been to Crystal Palace a bunch of times and have always had a good meal and experience. The have a good selection of food, esp desserts! :)

Having said that, I think both places are worth a shot at least once because it is quite an experience.

I agree! We have ended many a trip with Chef Mickey's and it really is a nice way to end a trip - we always have a lot of fun, but we don't really eat anything!!! The food is really NOT GOOD!! But, if you want to see Mickey one last time, it's a nice way to end.

I'm fine with breakfast there. It's a breakfast buffet and has the usual things you'd find at breakfast. I've never eaten dinner there so I can't help you with that.

The characters are awesome! They spend as much time with your table as they see you're interested. If you don't keep interacting with them then they will move on, but they're not rude about it. My kids love it.
