What do you think of Chef Mickeys? We are going in Feb with my 2 year old son and 3 year old nephew.. I know I have read that the food isnt that great but we just want him to have an experience with the characters while we are there.. About how much is it per person? I know 3 and under eat free. We have the Counter Dining Plan so we would just have to pay for this one and do you have to pay up front when you book the reservation or do you just pay after your meal? Thx in advance..

Chef Mickeys is good for characters. Donald's breakfast in AK is very good food and characters. as well as Hollywood and Vine in Hollywood Studios with Handy Mandy and gang. To find menus and prices try allears.net or most Disney sites can also find menu and prices

Keep in mind that breakfasts tend to be less expensive than lunch or dinner. If you are paying OOP, it is something to consider. The breakfast food at CM is about as good and hit or miss as most of the other character meals.

Another thing to consider when you make your reservation is if there are any characters that the boys are more interested than others, that might be a help in your decision. As PP have said, breakfast is less expensive than other meals. I have recently had character breakfasts at 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey and I feel like the food was about the same quality at all the places, and it was good and filling, nothing to rave about like other places we ate but not awful like you read on the Disboards either. You just have to remember that you are there for the character experiences

And to the best of my knowledge, you pay after your meals, I know I didn't pay for any meal in advance, and none of those restaurants even required a credit card to make the reservation, but I was on the dining plan, maybe someone that has not used the plan for one of those meals can answer you more accurately.

My two kids love Chef Mickey's. We've only gone for dinner and each time we've been happy. We feel the character interaction is very good too. You do not pay for the meal in advance.

Actually, three-year olds are charged a children's price. It's "2 & under" that eat for free, so you will need to pay for your nephew's meal.

I have 5 boys between the ages of 14 and 8 and they LOVE Chef Mickey's and it is a must every trip that we take them. We like the food & the character interaction is so fun!

We make a point of eating here every trip we make. We have done both breakfast and dinner and enjoyed both, but we prefer going here for breakfast (love the cheesy hashbrowns). We feel as though it is worth the price. We usually go to one of the last seating times, and do not eat lunch on this day as we are usually full when leaving.

Characters at both meals are great...food at breakfast is wonderful but at dinner it is horrible

Here is my 2 cents, and may not be taken well by some. I finally was able to get a ADR for the 1st night of our trip last year. It wasn't terrible but it was my least favorite meal of the trip. The characters were just finishing in our room, and Donald had just left our table area. We finally gave up and left without seeing him. Luckily we had seen him earlier at Epcot. The waitress even had to go get Mickey and bring him back because another table said he had skipped part of our room. The food was ok, but we really went knowing this, so it was fine. Lastly, my dd6 is scared of birds and they are in the dining area. She was in my lap freaked out and didn't want to eat. However, there are good characters there and I am sure our experience is rare.

We absolutely LOVE Ohana character breakfast. The characters are Stitch, Lilo, Mickey, and Pluto. We always eat there the last day of our trip. The characters parade around the room with the kids.

I posted yesterday about this but cant seem to find it again.. Is this worth it with a 2 year old? Also, about how much is this per person? We just have the counter service dining plan and I will have to pay for this myself. Thanks in advance...

2 yr old will love it. Unless they would be scared of Mickey and Minnie. The food is great and the characters come to each table to take pictures.

It's a buffett style and about $15 for kids and around $30 for adults.

Thank for you for the feedback and thanks to whomever found my old post.. I do agree about the if you are paying for a meal that isnt included on the dining plan, breakfast is probably the best bet.. Thanks so much for the help.

The food has been hit & miss to us. The characters have seemed really rushed the last few years. At CM & Crystal Palace last summer, it seemed like they barely paused long enough for a photo. Not much interaction, at all. Plus, be aware that the kids usually won't eat too much because of all the commotion going on.
