Has anyone had any luck going as a walk-up to Chef Mickey's recently? We used to be able to do this when we had problems with getting a priority seating but haven't had to do so in a long time.

We can't get a PS for Chef Mickey's for any day during my friend's first trip to Disney in October - I have tried every day for a few months. I am thinking of seeing if perhaps someone doesn't show up for their PS on one evening...

Any recent experiences?

After our visit last week, I would advise you to not waste your time. IDK if they allow walk-ups but I would highly doubt it. We got there for an 8:45 ADR and we had to wait in line for at least 20 minutes just to check in!:scared1: Then there was a long line to get your picture taken w/Chef Mickey (which we refused to wait in) and then they sat us down with a pager in another waiting area to wait another 20-30 minutes. Ridiculous!!! Plus, Chef Mickey doesn't do rounds in the dining room anymore, either. The only time you can meet him is in the picture line.:sad2: On top of all of that, I didn't think the food was all that great, either.

For our next trip, if the kids want a meal with the "main characters" we will try Tusker House or Cape May.

Crystal Palace w/Pooh & friends was marvelous!

That was only a test run on having Mickey up front. He will resume his rounds in the next week and they will evaluate the situation and how it worked or didn't. In October Mickey will be doing his rounds as normal.

***With that being said... we love Chef Mickeys food and all but you probably won't have any luck with a walk up. :confused3

Hi

My friend will be visiting Oct 13 through the 19th so we were hoping for one night during that week.

Maybe we are out of luck this time....

Last time we were there, my son wanted to eat at Chef Mickey's but we were unable to get PS. We got to the restaurant about 15 minutes before they actually opened and we did get a walk up. If you want to try, I would get there early. :yay:

Trip before last we were staying in CR with MK view. We had NO LUCK getting walk up for Chef Mickey's. I wouldn't try it again. I may have gone to concerige and asked them to help me but with so many food choices I didn't. CM is one hard place to get in. :surfweb:

We just got back from a wonderful trip to Disney(September 24-27) !!! We did have reservations for Chef Mickeys and were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation !!! Mickey did walk around to meet and greet everyone !!! I would say good luck with walking up and getting a reservation !! I tried to walk up and get a reservation at our hotel restaurant (Whispering Canyon) all three days and couldn't get a thing !!! Chef Mickey's is alot more popular too !!!

My best advice would be to continue calling to see if there has been a cancellation/opening.

Thank you for the encouragement. Hoping for pixie dust!

I will keep trying to get a PS...

I'd keep trying, even once you get to Disney. Last year we were there and my son wanted to go back to Crystal Palace. I called and was able to get a lunch reservation for the next day. And this was during free dining.

Also, I called 2 days ago, and managed to get a Chef Mickey's for December (also during FD period) for 7:05am. I suggest you keep trying, either calling or checking the web site. Good luck!

KEEP TRYING!!! People cancel all the time.

During our trip two months ago, I actually CANCELLED :scared1: our Friday evening Chef Mickey 7pm ADR the day before because DS12 decided he wanted to eat at Cape May that evening instead.

When I was cancelling, the cast member at the Concierge desk said I was going to make some family very happy!

Tusker House Does the same thing with Donald.
He does pictures and then doesn't go around the table.
And Minnie is not at Tusker House either.
So you only get Daisy, Mickey and Goofy at Tusker House.
I personally would enjoy having a picture with a real "Chef Mickey".
We think Breakfast at Chef Mickey's is much better.
We are hoping they bring back the old song too.
