My wife and I are taking our 6yo niece to WDW this June and among our ADR's is Chef Mickey's. My wife has read a couple recent reviews saying it is not that great an experience and the food is awful. Some of the reviews are funny to me in that people are going to a buffet and expecting Narcossees or Artist Point food from a buffet. :sad2: I think our expectations are for a descent meal, our niece to have some fun with the characters, and to survive. If it is less than that we'll change our ADR. We've also heard complaints about the service and that it isn't the cleanest place. Opinions please? Thanks in advance. :)

^^^ If you are interested in great character interaction and decent buffet food, then CM is the right place. As you said, if you don't expect gourmet food or service you'll be fine. We had CM's character breakfast and thought it was a wonderful choice. We have ADRs there again this summer. I know your niece will enjoy the fab 4! Our kids loved it there and so did we. Have fun! :)

We did dinner at CM and did not expect signature dining. We were sitted over 30 minutes past our ADR time. The place was really "loud". We have 2 dds and been to other buffets, but this one just seemed a little more on edge. The restaurant was a lot darker than others, yet, did not look as clean. The carpets and floor around the buffet seemed dirtier than other buffets we have been to. We did really enjoy the characters wearing their Chef hats and aprons, and were able to take pictures and get autographs from them all. I thought the food was ok, but nothing special. For me, I think the deal breaker was the time. We had an ADR later than we normally wanted and the extra 30 minutes with tired, hungry children was not pleasant. Yet, we plan to try it for breakfast this year.

We have been there several times for breakfast, and have always had good food, good character interactions and good service. Nothing magnificent, but decent on all counts. I can't vouch for dinner, but breakfast is fine.

I tend to hear much better things about breakfast than i do about dinner.... keep em coming, thanks.

We have been 3 times, the last time was June of '09. For us, it's a MUST-DO for our last breakfast before we leave WDW. We enjoy the food and the characters immensely. I have never noticed any dirt. The wait can be a bit long, but we think it is worth it! I think that most of WDW is loud, and CM's does not stand out to me as being any louder than any other place we eat.

ETA - I also have read that many places are a long walk, long wait, too much xxx, not enough yyy, etc. I guess I am more relaxed on vacation because I don't really notice these things, or they are not extreme enough to make much of an impact on me or my family. lol

We just went there on the first night of our trip and we all enjoyed it so much that we decided to go back again before we left

The food really is not good ~~ you don't go to Chef Mickey's for the food ~ you go for the atmosphere ~~ and where they are lacking in the food dept. they outshine in the atmosphere dept. ~~ it's very fun and a great Disney experience ~ my kids loved it when they were little :)

We went last Sunday for breakfast. Food was good, the cheesy potatoe casserole was really nice.

The character interaction was a bit rushed. A quick hug for the kids, a signature, and pic. Then they were gone.

Fun non the less. We ate at 8:00 and were at the ropedrop at MK.

Hey fellow Steeler fan! :wave2:

We love Chef Mickey's. Its a must-do every trip. We always go for dinner because we aren't breakfast people.

Thats the one restaurant DS (11) and DD (6) can always agree on.

Thanks Rolie, always great to get the opinion of a Burgher. :thumbsup2 Not many favorable dinner opinions. Most of the favorable ones are breakfast. Not like I'd expecting the Pittsburgh Chop House or a Lobster Roll from Roland's. ;) My wife just thinks it may taste like Cleveland food-LOL. Now I have an important follow up question.... Can you play QB? :rotfl2:

We had a great experience at Chef Mickeys in November. We went for breakfast and really enjoyed it. The characters actually spent a lot of time at our table :thumbsup2 DD LOVED IT. We got lots of really cute pictures. We will definitely do it again. It was actually one of the trip highlights bc our server for some reason thought it was my bday and brought me a cupcake and a Happy Birthday pin :rotfl2: I just played along. DH was dying laughing.

it has been 17 yrs seens I was at CM and I am thinking I want to try it again is it anything like it was 17 yrs ago

keep the reservation. The food was good and better than 1900 Park Fare in my opinion.

Chef Mickey's is our "must do" meal for every trip and we've been going almost every year since 2003! We have 3 kids (ages 15, 9, 5) and they all love it. We prefer breakfast over dinner. Dinner isn't bad, we just prefer breakfast since we rarely have big breakfasts like that on a day-to-day basis when we're at home.

I know a lot of DISsers look down on the place, but my family likes it very much. The food isn't spectacular, but everything was edible and enjoyable. The salmon, in particular, I found to be very good.

My family has done CM and it isn't horrible, the price is expensive for a mediocre meal. If you are going to do breakfast with the characters, consider doing the Cape May Cafe character breakfast.

We have done dinner and breakfast and prefer dinner. But we usually get there when they open for dinner so maybe it doesn't seem as loud or messy. We've never had a problem with the food - I think they have a great salad bar and seafood salad. And good desserts. Our best service has been dinner and worst service was breakfast. Our dd loves CM so we will go as long as she wants to.

My family and I have been there a few times for dinner and never had any problems with their food, plus the character interaction has always been great.
