Chef Mickey's

They have only done lunch during free dinning, however no one knows if they will be doing that again for free dinning this coming August.

Have you thought of going there for breakfast or dinner if you can get an ADR?

I have thought of doing breakfast, but the only thing holding me back is that DS (2) has never been to Disney nor seen the characters up close. I'm worried that they might scare him at first as the only day I have open is our first full day there. I had originally planned to do it as a dinner so that he could see them during the day and if he backed away from them, then I would know to cancel the dinner. With breakfast, I just thrust him into it.

Dinner is what we tried and it was a late dinner and we have MNSSHP that night. Can't miss all the fun. Should we attempt breakfast and put aside our worries of DS being nervous or scared?

Why not make a breakfast ADR a few days after you arrive to WDW if it's possible. This way you can take your son to the parks this way you can see how he reacts to the characters and would not need to try Chef Mickey's right away.

I'm gonna see what is open there. Thank you for the suggestions!
