Chef Mickey's

My Fiancee and I are going to WDW next week. We will arive between 6-8 in the morning (we are driving from CT). We want to go to Chef Mickey's for breakfast and then be at MK for park opening. We are staying at Pop and I was wondering how early we can get the bus to the TTC, and how early we can the monorail from the TTC to the Contemporary? Or would it better for us to just take the car that day (really don't want to do that if there is a way around it because I don't want to have to fight the traffic at park closing). Any suggestions?

Car, definitely. By bus you're looking at about an hour travel time. Just take the car, far faster.

Thanks for the info. Do you know how early the buses run from Pop to MK?

I may end up having to take GrandAdmiralStrife's advice and drive though if it takes too long to get there. Thanks to you too for your advice.

I believe transportation starts to run about one hour prior to the park opening....so theortically, if the MK is opening at 8:00 -- a bus to the MK should start running about 7:00 (or at least they did when we were there last month).

But...I don't think you will be able to get to Chef Mickey's, eat and then get to the park by the time it opens. I believe the first breakfast seating is about 8:00 a.m. -- and that is generally when the MK opens.

But when you're finished with your meal, you're going to have to move your car to the TTC lot as you won't be allowed to park at the Contemporary for the whole day. Or you could just park at the TTC to begin with.

It means "as far as I know".

I think you have a better chance of getting into Chef Mickey's as early as you can. Most folks don't want to be up and about before 8 or 9, so Chef Mickey's isn't as crowded early in the morning.

Okay, this is just the middle-aged sensibility in me talking (and I'm surprised the doctor's husband didn't think of this ), but - are you going to be driving all night, and go to breakfast on arrival, and then spend time in the Magic Kingdom? Best of luck to ya!

We are driving straight through from CT. I know it sounds crazy However, I am a veteran at this. My dad and I used to do this every year from the time I was in 4th grade until my freshman year in college. For most of that time I was not able to share the driving, so my dad would drive all the way from CT, and then we would go to the park (sometimes we would stop in the room for him to get a two hour nap...drove me nuts, being a little kid and not being patient about getting to the park, and having slept in the car). Last time my dad and I went we shared the driving so it was a lot easier, and we went right to the park.

Anyway, this time my fiancee and I are sharing the driving, so we can take turns sleeping in the car, so we should be fine. We are planning to go to bed really early the night before we leave and sleep really late (like 11 am) and leave around noon, so we will be well rested for the drive. Besides if we get there at 6 AM and we can't get into the room until 3ish, what else are we supposed to do?

Note: We have also been known to pull all nighters getting fire trucks ready for parades and then march in the parade. We're young enough we can handle it, and if we do get too tired we can always go back to the room in the afternoon and take a nap, although I doubt we will.

Early morning breakfast buses start running around 6ish. You should be able to get a bus from POP to MK by 6:15 or so and be at CM's in time for breakfast. I'm assuming that you already have ADR's though. If not, you might want to call asap since it gets crazy in there.
If you decide to take the bus to MK, when you get off the bus, head towards the entrance to MK but keep going to the right, following the brick walkway. This will take you directly to the CR. You will have to cross the street, so be careful. Those CM's can be driving fast. It is about an 8 minutes walk to the CR from MK. You may be better off just hopping in your car though..much quicker and direct.
