Chef Mickey's vs. Crystal Palace?

Hi everyone! My BF and I are heading to WDW again in November. I want to do a dinner on the night before we go to MVMCP and I'm torn between Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace. Which one?! My BF will be turning 25 while we're there (not that night) and I'll be 22. I need help! :confused3

Thanks in advance!

Hi

We went to both restaurants last July and last December. That being said, Crystal Palace DEFINITELY has better tasting food and options. Both have characters which are great. I think Chef Mickey's is good for Breakfast and you still get to see and take pictures with characters.

If you could, I would do Chef Mickey's for Breakfast and then Crystal Palace for Dinner.

I'd say without a shadow of a doubt that Crystal Palace is the nicest looking restaurant with the best food - tons of choices. Everything is so tasty and fresh from the salad, to entrees, and the multitude of desserts. We always eat dinner at Crystal Palace when we go. I only like Chef Mickey's for breakfast. I had dinner there once and it was just "o.k." The choices are much more abundant at Crystal Palace. I go for the food and atmosphere before the characters. I happen to like being in a beautiful gazebo type restauant which is bright and surrounded by windows - simply beautiful and is the nicest restaurant at Magic Kingdom besides Cinderella's Castle.

We have done both and here is my 10 year old's opinion of the 2. He likes Chef Mickey's for the show and he likes CP for the food and the convenience of it (we always do one or the other before MNSSHP).

My take is that the food is similar betweent the 2...ie they are buffets so I think you should pick just based on the characters...LOL. CP has Winnie and the such whereas Chef Mickey's has Mickey, etc.

PS we are going to CP this year (and did Chef Mickeys last year and CP the year before).

Thanks everyone for the advice I really appreciate it! It doesnt really matter what characters we see but I'm leaning towards CP since we're in it more for the good food LOL CP will be easier since we'll be right in MK for the MVMCP but CM is pretty easy too since its on the monorail loop. CP is winning out so far though. Thanks again everyone!

We went to both of them on our recent May vacation. Prior to this I had been to CP and CM for breakfast, but not dinner. Our first meal of the vacation was at Chef Mickey. Everyone loved the food and the atmosphere. The characters were great dealing with my kids that were afraid and liked posing with a sleeping little one. We went to Crystal Palace for my son's actual 2nd birthday dinner. We were quite unimpressed. Not only were the tables crowded together, but the food was sub-Disney quality in our eyes. They were doing a lousy job keeping up with the demand and often items were empty. I won't even mention how they messed up my son's B-day even after it was on our reservation and the server was told 4-5 times by all of us.

Good luck making your decision.
