Ok here is my dilemma... We are heading down to WDW for our daughters 2nd birthday. We know that she can't really appreciate the parks, but she loves the characters, especially Mickey and Minnie. So we want to take her for a character breakfast.

The only ADR available at Chef Mickey's during our stay is 7:05 am, but we have a couple of 10:00 am options at Cape May. 7:00 is pretty early for all of us, but we want her to have the best experience possible. :confused3

Has anyone done both? What are your thoughts! Thanks! :thumbsup2

I would go with Chef Mickey's because they have the classic characters with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald, so I am sure your daugther would enjoy that a lot.

I vote Cape May! I agree, that is an early ADR and with a little one that age, you don't want to have to get someplace that early!

I have done both several times each through the years and much prefer the food and atmosphere at Cape May. I love Chef Mickey's but its crowded, noisy (although that early it would probably be much more tranquil) and the food can be hit or miss. Cape May has never let us down, its much lower key and you will see Minnie, Goofy, Chip (sometimes Dale instead) and Pluto all decked out in cute beach attire. Its a lot of fun but not as noisy and hectic. The food is very good and because its not as crazy, the characters tend to spend a bit more time at each table.

Another thought is O'Hana since has both MIckey and Minnie at breakfast. Its not a buffet but rather family style. If you want Mickey and Minnie, that one might be available at a better time although it fills up too.

Here is another thread on this same subject and as you can see, Cape May won hands down on that poll:

Good luck, they are both a lot of fun!

We did both for breakfast on our trip in 2008, we actually ended up going back to Cape Mays for a second time. We much preferred Cape Mays to Chef Mickey's. It is not so loud and hectic, more relaxing great food, we loved Cape Mays both times. They day we went to Chef Mickey's Donald didn't go around the tables, he stood over to the side and everyone had to stand in a queue for him. At Cape Mays, Minnie sat down at the table and played Noughts and crosses on the tablecloth, it was fun.

Another great breakfast is Ohana's, which has Mickey but not Minnie.

IMO cape may has better food, character interaction, and cleanliness. We enjoyed Chef Mickey's but Cape May was steps above.

And don't forget Donald! I believe he was just added to the character bf.

My vote is for Cape May for sure over Chef Mickey's.

We've been to both Chef Mickey and Cape May Cafe. They both offer a decent breakfast buffet. So then the real difference is the characters and atmosphere. Here are some thoughts....

Chef Mickey - usually has the 5 characters (Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Pluto) all dressed in chef's clothing. The atmosphere is fun and festive. Characters rotate throught very efficiently, and sometimes come through twice. If you want the most characters, then pick this one.

Cape May Cafe - has 3 characters (Minnie, Donald, Goofy) all dressed in cute beach attire. The atmosphere is festive but a little bit quieter. The characters circulated a bit slower throughout the place.

I liked both of them and will plan on dining at each for our next trip. But if I could only pick one of them, then hands down it would be Chef Mickey's.

I have pictures of all the characters in my oct trip report in my signature.

We've done Chef Mickey's numerous times. This past September we tried Cape May Cafe. We much preferred Cape May Cafe for the food and the character interaction (it is Minnie, Goofy and Donald Duck in beach attire).

I think Chef Mickey's has more food variety than Cape May. I also preferred Chef Mickey's because there is more character interaction and they keep the crowd interacted during the meal - not just the characters but the staff too. It's also more roomy and more spread out, which we liked.

We have done both and we prefer Cape May (kids included). Chef Mickey's seems to be more 'high energy' and Cape May is more low-key, as people have said. We had plenty of character interaction at both places.

Pluto has never been there. In the past Chip & Dale were also there, however they are no longer there.

We have done Cape May a million times and loved it every single time, great food and awesome characters.

We are going to try Chef Mickeys in March, never been to that one before and have heard some good things about it
