Hello :),

Which one of the two do you recommend? We've never done dinner at either of them. We're planning on having a resort day and don't feel like venturing too far for dinner.

Thanks in advance!

They are so different that it really depends on what kind of place you're in the mood for.

Are you looking for a noisy (even occasionally raucous) buffet with characters? Or a more quiet a la carte restaurant with more upscale offerings?

I guess I'm really looking for who has better food. I know during the late 90's early 2000's Chef Mickey's breakfast and dinner buffet was pretty good. As of late, I've been hearing and reading a lot of negative things about the food. My family was looking forward to going back to Chef's based on positive past experiences. If the place really tanked we'd rather hold onto our memories. . . lol. Now my only other option for keeping a lazy resort day together is changing my ressie to The Wave. We've never eaten at The Wave thus my need for comparing the two based on food :)! I'd do the Cali Grill but we're already booked there :goodvibes!

Thanks again!

It has been a few years since I've eaten at CM. I always thought the food was okay, but nothing really special. I do love The Wave though. We've eaten there three or four times and have never had a bad meal.

The Wave. We prefer to eat food that is cooked to order as opposed to buffet food. My boys have pretty much outgrown the characters, so now we can enjoy restaurants for the food! (We'll still visit the Fab Five in the parks :upsidedow)

The Wave, but that's based on the opinion of someone who generally is not a fan of buffets and pretty much detests character dining, so feel free to take it with a grain of salt or whichever other seasoning makes it suitably palatable for you.

Chef Mickey's is a typical buffet... not done really well (IMO). It's loud and noisy so kids can be a little more "casual" in their behavior. There are characters there, point Chef Mickey.

The Wave is DEFINITELY better food overall. The ambience is quieter and it is a sit down restaurant. This is definitely the place to go if you are looking for a nice meal. Obviously no characters here.

Overall unless you NEED characters I wouldn't do Chef Mickey's. The Wave is very good!

I would never choose Chef Mickey's for the food. If that is your primary concern, try Wave.

If you want good food, then I would definitely choose The Wave. We ate there for breakfast and dinner on our last trip and both were delish!

Chef Mickeys is absolutely horrible. I would never eat there again. The quality of food is awful, so is the selection and temperature of the food. Everything about that place is awful. The characters were the only bonus. They were great! I'd never go there again. I'd pick the wave.

I don't think you could have picked two more different restaurants to compare. Just because you will be at CR that night, does not mean you have to limit yourself to those restaurants. It would be simple to eat at Poly or WL too. If I was staying at the resort all day, I would be ready to take a boat to one of the other resorts for dinner. maybe even HDDR.

Despite the fact that it is not fancy food, I think CM is a great way to start a trip. There is nothing that feels more Classic Disney. The food is much better at Wave. If it is middle of the trip and you want a quiet day, Wave can be good, although we found the atmosphere dull. What is the atmosphere even supposed to be? We couldn't tell.

Chef Mickey's, Chef Mickey's :mickeyjum

Every trip we go for dinner and my boys love it. Enjoy!!

It's the middle of our trip and we're looking for a quiet day at our home resort BLT. We decided to take a break from HDDR and already have ADR's for most restaurants on the loop.

Just want to thank everyone for replying. I just went ahead and cancelled my CM ADR and booked The Wave instead . Thanks again!
