Chef Mickey's or Hollywood & Vine

I gave up a Chef Mickey's res to get a BOG dinner res at the same time. I'm kind of torn on this decision because visiting Chef Mickey's is a tradition...we go every visit. However, I do have H&V booked with Minnie & Friends the next night so I figured that will take care of the character aspect. Does H&V have the same characters as CM? Also...how does the food compare?
Wondering if I should try for Chef Mickey's on another night or not.

H&V has Disney Jr. characters (Handy Manny[I think], Jake, Sophia, and someone else that I can't remember off the top of my head).

Last trip we tried both places for the first time. I thought both were good, but neither was better than the other. Pros for both, cons for both. Chef Mickey's had a better dessert offering. H&V had better food quality. H&V was within a park. Chef Mickey's you had to leave a park to get to it. I thought the character interaction was better at Chef Mickey's (but my son also knows who the fab 5 are compared to the DisJr. characters).

What it would come down to for me personally is that I wouldn't make a special trip to Chef Mickey's just to eat there. If I already had MK planned for that day, or was going to MK or Epcot after the meal, then Chef Mickey's makes sense.

H&V has Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy at night and their theme changes seasonally.

I have heard from other resources though that the characters at H&V don't sign autographs...they just give you autographed cards...now I am not sure if this is the case or not but if you have little kids that like getting autographs this would make me pause and try to find out some truth behind this or not. I wanted to try Minnie & Friends @ H&V but my little 1 likes the Disney JR characters and we will be seeing plenty of the Minnie and friends at other places so we will be having breakfast at H&V instead.

We ate at H&V for the Holiday Dine last December, and the characters signed my daughter's autograph book. You do get a card with the signatures printed as well, but if you have a book, they may sign if asked, especially if they're not too busy that night.
