I am trying to decide which to go to for our last meal at WDW. This will be breakfast on the morning of our departure. I've heard bad things about the food at Chef Mickey's, but I'm not expecting award-winning food, just something decent that will fill me up before the long trip home. I have heard that the food at Cape May is much better though, but from what I understand they serve the same kind of food, so why would it be different? How is the character interaction at both restaurants? What characters will be at each? Any other pros and cons to both restaurants? Thanks for all your opinions :goodvibes

We have had breakfast at Chef Mickeys and dinner at Cape May. there were no characters at the dinner we had. We like the food at Chef Mickey's for breakfast. It is not the best, but there are many options and the character interactions are great. I think it would be a nice way to end your trip.

We went to Cape May for Breakfast, it is my family's favorite place for breakfast! The food is amazing and it will definitely fill you up. The characters there are goofy, donald and minnie all in beach attire. I've gone there at least twice and I have a reservation for next month. The characters go around the restaurant and when you get there the servers explain the route the characters take. Sometimes you can visit with the characters more than once. There was one time we got visited by goofy and donald twice and then a different time minnie twice (and if we stayed like 5 minutes longer we would've seen donald a second time as well). I love the atmosphere of the Cape May Cafe it's very relaxed and everyone seems to enjoy themselves.

We have done both breakfast and dinner at Chef Mickey's and definitely prefer breakfast. That being said, Cape May's breakfast is our second favorite character meal after Crystal Palace. I would definitely pick Cape May over Chef Mickey's.

I'd go with Cape May. We ate breakfast there twice on our recent trip and it was FABULOUS! The food just does not compare to Chef Mickey's in my opinion. They do have very similar items but at Cape May it's like they took dishes that were alright at Chef Mickey's and made them delicious.

Plus, both mornings that we ate at Cape May, we were seated immediately, it was quiet, laid back and relaxed. Whereas, Chef Mickey's was a 30 minute wait, it was loud, insane and rushed. The characters barely stopped long enough to sign our kids books and take a picture. We even had to ask to see Mickey because he flat out skipped us. But at Cape May, we saw all three characters twice each morning and the interaction was the best we had all week.

Cape May was truly the best character meal and breakfast we had all week. I think breakfast there would be a wonderful end to a magical vacation.

Hands down Cape May! Even thought the food is similar, Cape May is cleaner and the food always looks fresher and well presented. Cape May is also less "busy" feeling, and quieter.

Have to join in with everyone that said "Cape May". The buffet there is huge and much nicer then Chef Mickey's. The atmosphere is fun but not as loud and at Cape May the characters made their way to our table twice rather than once at Chef Mickey's.

Do they have made-to-order eggs at Cape May? We're thinking about trying it for the first time on our next trip in August. :yay:

It's a toss up for us.

We have had breakfast at both.

Both are quite different experiences to us.

Chef Mickey's is easy to get to, loud, long, colorful, busy, and hard to get into lately! The food is ok and has a lot to chose from. The characters stop for a picture and not much else but it is the fab five, so cannot beat that!

Cape May's, on the other hand, is a little more difficult to get to (especially depending on the time of day), has never been crowded when we have been there, in fact they have always been taking walk-ups. We have never has more than a 3 or 4 minute wait. It is open and airy feeling. We have seen Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Chip and/or Dale (it was only one of them the last time we were there) dressed in their beach finest. There seems somehow to be more selections or else they were just set up better and things were always hot and fresh looking and tasting. They had a wonderful yogurt bar. And the kids love that they are given crayons and a table cloth to write on...in fact, usually the characters would sit down and color with them for a few minutes or play tic-tac-toe...they loved that!

Wow, reading this back it seems clear to me which we should say is our favorite but somehow, we don't. We usually want both becasue they are such different feeling experiences...

if we could only pick one and time was not an issue it would be Cape May for us...but we'd miss Chef Mickey's too...

Do Chip and Dale come to Chef Mickey's? This is one of the main reasons I'm considering it b/c my little cousin who is coming LOVES them. If they don't come to Chef Mickey's, is there any other places we can meet them besides restaurants (I know you can meet them at Garden Grill, but we are going to Coral Reef instead)?

They use to be at Chef Mickey's, however they are no longer there. It's only Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto.

Chip and Dale are not at Chef Mickey's or Cape May (they used to be at Cape May but they switched them out and put Donald Duck instead). I'm not sure where else they do meals except for Garden Grill.

DH and I ran into Chip and Dale at Animal Kingdom and also at the entrance of the Magic Kingdom.

The character greeting trail in AK is a great place to meet Chip & Dale too.
