I have reseveration made for Oct 22 for my friends birthday dinner while on our trip. We have made reservation at Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Fare, because he wants to eat with the characters. Do any of you have experiences with Birthdays at these locations? I have eaten at many disney restaurants before, but it would be our first at either of these.

We are not going to any of the parks this day, b/c it is our arrival day, so we don't need to worry about transportation or timing.

Do any of them do something nice for the Birthday Boy or Girl?

Any input would be nice b/c this is a person who would "love':rolleyes1 it if we made a big fuss over him.

thanks!

I just ate at the both last week and the dinner at 1900 was HORRIBLE. It was my cousins daughters 4th birthday and they never brought out the cup cake until I asked for it for the 2nd time and by than they had left to go see the electrical parade on the water. Out waiter was no where to be found over and over again and we had breakfast at chef's mickey's and that was not the great. The food was cold and we had the worst seat in the house rigth next to the kitchen door and the CM's kept getting in the way of our pictures. I haven't heard great things about dinner there either from peoples recent trips. I am sorry to be such a bummer as I am a huge Disney fan but these are 2 places I am never going to again. I know he wants characters but the California Grill was excellent for dinner.

I would go with Chef Mickey's and a few years ago we celebrated my dad's birthday there, so after we told this to our waiter later on Goofy came to our table and brought him a Cup Cake.

I'm worried now. I have reservations at both of these places. If they are not very good, I would rather spend my dinner somewhere else!

I started the 2nd day of my 40th bday celebration (which was 9 days long) at CM breakfast in Jan 2010. It the same yummy food as always. I got the cupcake which I couldn't eat after all that other great food, so I got it to go. I say eat where you really want to eat and don't worry about the reviews-there will always be conflicting opinons on the boards.

We enjoyed Chef Mickey's breakfast too and just made a resevration to eat there again on our next trip.

I have usually had very good service at 1900 Park Fare. And if it Dinner the two Stepsisters will really have a blast with a big kid for the birthday. I hope he does not get upset if he is in an embarrassing situation.

My family ALWAYS goes to CM on our first night. They've always made a fuss for us on birthdays. Really...you can't go wrong at any of the restaurants when it comes to special occasions.:thumbsup2

First off, just wanted to say that I'll be celebrating my bday dinner at Cape May that night.

I have bday dinner experience at both CM and PF. At CM, I think I just got a cupcake at the end. At PF, they usually give you a placemat (and princesses of all ages get a crown too) and the cupcake. You might get lucky at PF and have one of the stepsisters ham it up for the bday boy.

I'd probably go to PF, though I think I like the food at CM over PF now (PF has been on a steady decline with the dinner food for a few years IMO).

I would recommend 1900 Park Fare dinner. The food is a bit more "grown up". My family enjoys the variety. I bet that the step sisters would have a great time with your friend. They are hilarious and could definitely make an evening to remember for your friend.

i would go with pf little bit better food nothing great for the money but cm is just terrible my 2 nephews who are 6 and 8 cant stand the food there , but then again food has been going down hill at disney for the past 4 or 5 years

Snurk71! That is awesome, Happy Birthday!!:goodvibes

Thanks everyone for the reviews. We are not picky people when it comes to food, I think that both the menus seem good to me. My birthday boy likes very simple food.. Corn, mac and cheese, chicken tenders, burgers, pizza, corndogs, grill cheese. In fact he eats the sames things has my 2 year old son!

So, While I am in favor of 1900 Park Fare, I think we will end up at Chef Mickey's for Dinner that night. I would love to take hime to PF so that the stepsisters would go crazy over him, he is a "princess" ;) so I am sure he would love the crown and all the attention that goes along with it. So I will just have to see if I can make the dinner night a surprise. We have quiet a while to decide, so I'll give it some more thought. I'll see what his SO has to say about it.

thanks for all your help!

We ate at both on our December trip. I thought 1900 was far better overall. The food was much better. The service was good at both. I think if your friend is looking for good character interaction, 1900 is also your best bet. The Tremaine's are awesome!

It depens on who your person would like to celebrate it more with? Chef Mickey's has the classic characters. 1900PF has more 'face' chracters than costumed ones.

We're doing both this coming trip!

Just wondering if you ordered and paid for a cupcake dessert for the child which was not brought on time, or whether you were expecting a free cupcake?

Do the Park Fare dinner. The stepsisters will make a big fuss over your guy and it will be fun. The food is good. I have never had bad service there. No worries, you will enjoy it!

Oh I ordered a cake for my mom for mothers day and it was the same issue with the cake as well as the free cup cake for her. I had to ask for the cake twice and the cup cake. I even went out and ask the hostess if there was an issue with the cake and she said no it was brought over from the bakery 25 minutes ago. I asked her what the hold up was with our waiter bringing it to the table was and she didn't know. Finally I found our waiter again and told him to just bring the cup cake and the cake out in a box since my family went out to see the parade and I wasn't waiting anymore. 1900 was hands down the worst experience I had my entire vacation followed very closely by Chef Mickey's. I really will never be going back to either one of these places.
