We have ADRs for Chef Mickey's for dinner at 6:20 on 9/14 and then tix to MNSSHP at 7:00 the same night. I figure we will probably get to MK and the party around 8:00. How much will we miss in the first hour - is Chef Mickey's worth it - not the food, but the character experience??

Oh - the cast is Me (32), DM (58), DN (10), DN (8), DS (4.5)

TIA!!!

I think you should try to make an earlier ADR, I for one feel like the tickets are expensive and I am not missing one moment eating somewhere. We are going to the P/P party 9/3 and have booked Chef Mickey's at 5:00pm, til we get out of there it may be 6:30 or later! Then we have to monorail over there so I think I timed it right.
I just think 5:00pm is a better time but if you can't get it just go and enjoy!

I was afraid of that! The only ADR I could get was the late one, but I'm checking daily for cancellations! I might just skip Chef Mickey's altogether and hit a CS for dinner!
The tix to MNSSHP are so expensive that I hate to have dinner cut into that time unless the kids will enjoy the character interaction so much more than the party! :confused3

Although the party "starts" at 7, it is my understnading that you can get in the park at 4:00. I wish I knew this the two previous yrs we went, as we do run out of time and go twice each year. I have a Concourse Steak Reservation, before MNSSHP for 5:40 and wish it were earlier.
Can anyone confirm that you can get into the park at 4:00 or is this only with a dinner reservation in the park??? If you can't get in until seven and the MK is only a short walk, I'd keep the reservation, unless you can make it for another night, then definately cancel.

we were able to get in at 4 last october. well, they were letting people in at 4 for it, we were there are 3:55 and they told us we had to wait until 4pm exactly, but we had already used a day on our hoppers that day so just went thru on that.

to the op, I would skip chef mickeys. if you want a character meal, you can always try for LTT or crystal palace. we did crystal palace...its not open during the party, but we didn't want to be sitting in a restaurant when things got going, anyway, so we made adr's for 5pm. it worked out perfectly!

I had a table service reserved for the night of the party but ended up canceling it because of the time it takes out of the party and I didn't want to be full. I just decided to eat something light so I wouldn't be sluggish all night. Then snack during the party whenever I wanted something. That's usually the only time I want a snack on the dining plan is when I skip a meal entirely.

We were able to enter the park around 4 last year. Honestly, I would skip Chef Mickey's or try to reschedule for maybe a late breakfast that day. The park was very quiet from 4-6...there was absolutely no one at Cosmic Ray's so we were able to eat our dinner rather quickly then hit a bunch of rides with no wait. There is a lot going on with the trick or treating, parades, fireworks, Stitch's dance party (a blast for the young ones).
This way you'll have a had a big breakfast/lunch and can go and relax, swim, nap (you could be there very late) and then have a light dinner and lots of candy!!!
PS, be sure to wear light costumes if you plan on dressing up. It was very warm and humid the night we were there.

We did this last Oct...we had 5:30 ressies (before the party) for CM and the food was terrible. The characters were great but to be honest I wish we ate CS at the park because there was a ton of characters out at the party and the kids had a blast spotting them for autographs.

If I was to do CM again it would be for breakfast.

Skip CM's, we were there this past week at Disney and was there over an hour and never saw all the characters.

What are your plans for the rest of the day? Are you hitting parks in the morning? We are all adults and have a 6:20pm reservation at Ohana's the day of the party. We are sleeping in that morning, having a late brunch at Chef Mickey's then maybe shopping at DTD. The park will be open till midnight and hopefully we will last till the end, where people with little kiddies will be pooping out by the time parade and fireworks occur.
