I have just booked Chef Mickeys for dinner.

What food do they do?

Is there characters in the evening?

What are your views on it?

Another quick question:

My son is 13 so we will have to pay adult price, can he eat the childrens items if he wants?

Donna

your son can eat what he likes- it is buffet style. Chef Mickey's is my favorite place to eat including breakfast. There is great character interaction- you will have a great time!! I have been calling back each day to see if I can get a table for 2- no luck!!

we went to chef mickey's for dinner and thought it was great. there was a good selection of food, so much that i can't remember exactly what! i know there was a cold salad bar, some hot food items, then 2 types of meat they were carving. the desert bar was really good too. and the character interaction was great! as the previous poster said, your son can eat whatever he wants. i took mickey mac & cheese from the kids section, and i'm 26

Thanks we are going on my sons birthday he will be 13. We tried to get breakfast but couldn't and just managed to get 9.10 for 6 of us. We have Ohana for breakfast so its going to be a busy day.

Can you see Magic kingdom from Chef mickeys?

Donna

You'll have to pay the adult price for him at any buffet, but....

its so worth it! I love CM, one of my faves for sure. They have a carving station with prime rib, Mickey Ravioli, parmesan mashed potatoes, great selection on the salad bar with specialty salads, peel and eat shrimp...there's tons more and its all good!

and the dessert

OMG. I could eat 40 of those little key lime tarts.

Characters were Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald when we were there...but I've heard there are changes depending on your dinner service..

loved it. It was so fun, and so good...a must re-do for next year! :thumbsup2

no, its on the other side of the Contemporary...but you'll be too busy eating and having fun to notice the view!

We had four character meals on our recent trip and this was by far our favorite experience! The characters all came around at least three times! The chef (he was actually one of the sous chefs) was great and walked us around the buffet to let us know which foods we could have, and he also prepared me a HUGE bowl of vegan pasta salad.:thumbsup2 It was truly enormous and could have fed everyone at our table a small portion!:rotfl: We would absolutely go back there, no hesitation!
P.S. Your son can eat anything he wants from the buffet. Enjoy!

if you sit in the right room you have a partial view of the MK......

It's nice to see so many good reviews of Chef Mickey's for dinner for a change ! :thumbsup2 I've really been surprised by how many negative reviews I've read since I've eaten dinner there twice and enjoyed it both times (and I'm eating there again this year).

Our family LOVES Chef Mickey's! Our first evening at WDW always includes dinner at CM because it truly exemplifies the "Disney spirit".

Our last visit was on Sept 22nd and the food was great! (and I was concerned because of some not-so-good reviews here on the DIS). From the soup and cold salad bar including fruit, to the diverse selection of hot entrees - everything was delicious! Some of the favorites of my family are the peel-n-eat shrimp, Mickeyroni & Cheese, carved prime rib, parmesan mashed potatoes, and bbq ribs. Not to mention the awesome selection of desserts - it's impossible to choose just one! My kids, of course, love the make-your-own-sundae-bar.

As for character interaction - this was the best we had our entire trip! Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and Donald - gotta love all the classic Disney characters! They made us laugh, especially during the song & dance routine where the guests are encouraged to wave your napkins in the air.

IMO you've made a great choice in Chef Mickeys! :flower3:

In my opinion, Chef Mickey's is a must during a WDW trip.

Walt Disney wanted you to take the monorail from the park into The Contemporary resort. He wanted you to be "wowed" by that unique experience (you can't take a monorail into a resort anywhere else on earth...remember that when you go!).

The food is excellent. The character interaction (without giving it away) is terrific.

I will recommend something to you: Consider dressing up the family nicely for the dinner (specially since it's your son's birthday). Just before you are seated, the CM's will take a professional photograph of your family in front of a Chef Mickey's background. During your meal, they will come around with the picture as an 8x10, magnet, key chain, etc. Tell them how wonderful the picture turned out. Say how you must buy the 8x10 but that you have to watch your expenses and you wish you could afford to buy everything. When you pay, tip the salesperson a couple dollars. I've done this three times and every time, they just gave me the whole package! It's already made up and and they just throw away the stuff you don't buy anyway!

We bought matching Disney outfits that we wore to dinner.

Good luck and enjoy!

Went last year for my birthday and it was cute and the characters were a blast but the food was horrible...I would not go back for dinner but I would not mind trying breakfast.

We are giving Chef Mickey's another try in Dec. It is a really fun place to eat!!:)
