Which would you do or what have you done? We can only do one of them so we need help deciding. What does one give you that the other does not in regards to entertainment, food, location, etc?

TIA!

My family and I have had dinner a few times at Chef Mickey's which was always a great experience. The food was alright, the character interaction was amazing and it was a great atmosphere.

We didn't think the dinner food at Chef Mickey's was very good. I would recommend breakfast at either - the food is always a safer bet.

Dinner at CMs had cheese pasta, cheese potatoes, lots of other stuff we didn't really like.

We did have a late lunch at Tusker House and liked it, but I'm assuming you're going for the character thing!

last trip we did CHef Mickeys dinner and Tusker House Breakfast - we would NEVER do Chef Mickeys for dinner again, we would do Tusker House EVERY time!!! - hope that helps!!:thumbsup2

We do Chef Mickey's for dinner every time we go and we always have a great time with the characters and enjoy the food. This is a must do every visit to WDW. :thumbsup2

We do Chef Mickey's :smickey: every year for dinner and really like the food and character interaction . However this year we are taking a break from Chef Mickey's :smickey: and we are doing the Tusker House Safari Breakfast with Donald :donald: , which we can't wait for :thumbsup2

So to me either one would be great to do especially if you've never been to either one . Hope this helps you out & have a great trip princess:

We will be trying for Chef Mickeys for our upcoming trip for the first time. I am a little torn though. We did Tusker House breakfast the last trip and loved it. Food was great, character interaction was fabulous and the atmosphere was neat. I'm almost inclined to stick with what we already know we like vs. trying Chef Mickeys.

We usually do both.. Chef Mickey night of our arrival and Tusker House Breakfast AK Day.
If We had to choose one I would pick Tusker House...
The food at CM is not great...small buffet...
Tusker House has better food.

We've done both and actually love both of them for different reasons. For me, I focus on what characters does our family like and what will the characters be dressed up as.

Chef Mickeys - offers breakfast or dinner buffets, food is pretty good. Characters are dressed in Chef's clothing (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald). Excellent character interaction. The decor is more contemporary and is black, white, red. Monorail access is nice, park admission is not needed. The characters do a little dance and kids wave their napkins at the tables.

Donald's Safari Breakfast - offers only breakfast buffet, food is also good. Characters are dressed in safari clothing and hats (Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Daisy). This is the only meal with Daisy Duck. Lots of pictures of animals on the walls, African theming. Tables and chairs are all dark wood. Must have park access and plan on doing AK that day. Great character interaction. The characters do a parade and pass out musical instruments for the kids to march along.

If you forced me to make a choice, I would pick Chef Mickey's because you get more characters. Our family loved both of them and they're our top picks for character dining. (See my Oct trip report link in signature for pictures of the characters at each meal)

We've done Chef Mickey's dinner and love it! We plan on trying Tusker House breakfast this summer.

:welcome: to the DIS!

If I could only choose one I would have to pick Tusker House for breakfast.. We found this to be the best breakfast buffet at Disney. They have a large variety of foods and breads. You have to try the Jungle juice. It is delicious!(and served to everyone)

Chef Mickeys dinner foods were terrible! I have not tried TH yet but I have heard alot of good things about it

Are you on the DDP? If not, I would also consider cost...since most people like Tusker House, if I were paying OOP, I would choose it since it would be breakfast and considerably cheaper...

Also, where are you staying? Would you like to see the Contemporary and going to Chef Mickey would be a good excuse! or is that too much schlepping around and you can eat an early breakfast at Tusker House and be in AK before rope drop?

Here's a little thing to consider with Tusker House; I've heard the food is excellent and it's very nice to see the characters in safari gear. However, Animal Kingdom is best done in the morning - one because it heats up by mid day in Florida, and two, because that is when the animals are up and about. If you tie up too much time with a character meal (usually 90 minutes from start to finish), you might lost time in the park. If you are early risers though, you could get an ADR before park opening. In that case it may be worth it.
Chef Mickey is a lot of fun. I thought the food was actually quite good. It's very fun and has a classic disney feel to it. We plan to do it again when we return in November.

Tusker House Breakfast!

Tusker food is very good...There is a large selection of good tasting food...The characters look so cute in their safari clothing...They have a parade for the kids every 45 minutes or so...Lots of fun...We like getting the 8:05 ADR on a day the park opens at 9:00...We have time to eat then head straight for the safari ride...The ride is right across from Tusker...The line is short and the animals are active....Great way to start the day!

If you asked me a year ago, I would have said Chef Mickeys but last September we did the Tusker House breakfast for the first time. IMHO the food was much better at TH. I'm encouraging my relatives to schedule a breakfast there for a trip in July. Love the Jamba juice!

It is a tough decision!

I agree with all of the pp who have said that both character meals offer something a little different. We had dinner at Chef Mickey's on our arrival night. It allowed us to experience classic Disney magic without using a park ticket. We found the food to be pretty good. This was one meal where our kids actually ate!

Breakfast at the Tusker House was very good. The charcters, the parade, and the food were all enjoyable.

Of the two, Chef Mickey's seemed to be a little more chaotic. If I had to make a choice, I think I would choose Tusker House. One of the main things that TH offers that CM does not is Daisy Duck. We really wanted to meet Daisy. TH gave us that opportunity in addition to wonderful food and a great atmosphere.

Good luck making the decision!

We really liked both, but if we could only do one, I would say CM Dinner. I liked the characters and the food was pretty good. Nothing to write home about, but good.

DH would say Tusker House breakfast. He LOVES the Jungle Juice.
