I was planning on doing Chef Mickey's dinner (we are on the dining plan). We have been to the breakfast before and liked it. The menu for dinner looks good, but I saw some pictures of the dinner and the food didn't look all that appetizing. What is your experience?

We were there in September and ate at Chef Mickey's for the 1st time for dinner. We loved it! Everything was really good. Apparently the woman next to us loved it as well, since she filled up about 6 tupperware dishes that she had stashed in her huge purse!!!!

We love it & it is a "must do" every trip. The desserts are wonderful.

We went for the first time in Oct and really liked it :thumbsup2 The prime rib and mashed potatoes were my favorites. I haven't tried breakfast there so I can't compare the two but I would eat dinner there agan.

We love Chef Mickeys! It is always on the tops of our list. The food is very good and the kids always remember the desert buffet. The most important thing though is the character interaction. It is so nice to see Mickey and Minnie somewhere besides the park where the kids can talk with him longer than 5 seconds. The kids also love the "napkin dance"!

My opinion is don't miss it!

We go for the family photo as you walk in and those parmesian mashed potatoes!! Fun atmoshpere to boot.

I save plenty of room for the desserts and the character interaction is great.

We had Dinner at Chef Mickeys last August. We are now planning a surprise trip for 9 people, most of which have never been to Disney. :teeth:
Would we eat there again this trip if was just the three of us from last year's trip? Probably not. Are we planning dinner there for the surprise trip for everyone? Yes! Not for the food but for the characters! Hope that makes sense! :teeth:

I did not care for the food, but I loved the festive atmosphere and the character interaction. I always recommend to others to go because it is just so "Disney". I think it is so magical to take the monorail over to have dinner with Mickey. I would probably not go again just for the food but I would go again for the "party". :)

We found it just ok. Food selection seem to be lacking. Atmosphere was great though. I would consider trying it again to see if perhaps it was just an off night.

We've had both breakfast and dinner and won't go back for dinner.
We go back over and over for breakfast.

As a matter of fact, it's one of the reasons we like to stay at the CR.
We love the CR, but this certainly is a deciding factor, being so close to our favorite breakfast spot.

We have done both dinner and breakfast at CM. We much prefer dinner. In fact, Chef Mickey's is the only restaurant that we have to do each trip. I have read the negative reviews, but in 10 trips to CM we have never experienced anything negative. We like the food, atmosphere, and character interaction. Now, the wait staff leaves some to be desired, but that is another story. It certainly isn't enough to ruin a dinner there or to keep us from returning.

This has always been our first night dinner and we love it! In our opinion much better dinner than crystal palace. However I learned on our last trip that 1 or at the most 2 dinner buffets is totally enough in 7days time. Last year we did CM, CP and park fare all for dinner and by CP our last night we were totally sick of them. So I think its great provided you haven't eaten a bunch of other similar dinners. This year we are only doing CM and Boma--again this is dinner only can't comment on other meals--

:thumbsup2 LOVE it!! We have done both dinner and breakfast and prefer dinner. I think it has alot to do with the atmosphere but the food is still good. This will be our 4th trip since 2001 and we have eaten dinner there every time. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I agree with Waltdisneyworlddreamer! Are you a buffet lover? do you mind big crowds and kids running in and out of the food line??

Don't get me wrong, I think it is one of the best Character interactions/meals, and it has the best of the Disney feeling...I always tell friends to go here... but the lady filling up tupperware bowls in her purse!! yes, I have seen that type of thing... also people eating off of their plates while they are in the buffet lines!! YECK! But, as you can see, I am not a big buffet kind of girl (except for BOMA)... Don't get mad at me, I am just always so appalled at others table/ dining manners at many of the WDW buffets....

That being said.. it is fun!! it is cute when they wave the napkins around and line up through the room.. The food is fine, and the dessert station for kids is great. As with all of the WDW dining experiences, know what you are going for, and enjoy that experience... :wizard:

Wow!
We must have hit it on an off night. I hate to be the only negative here, but, we waited an HOUR for Mickey and then we only saw him once. The other characters just walked past and waved. It wasn't just us either. The tables on either side of us went up to their waiters to complain. The food is fine for what it is. Buffet food. I will say ,however, that the picture was really nice to have. But for the money we found that other places were better for us.
As I said, we may have just hit it on an off night.

We love it. The Character interaction is superb, lots of visits to our table.
My Children had the Chefs hats from earlier that day at EPCOT and got all the Characters to sign them. Donald was out in the foyer and they had a great time with him. You'll love it

We love CM! Only problem I had was that there was a bird in the dining area and I'm terrified of birds. Stupid thing landed right near me and not one other member of our family was there to shoosh it away. Guy at the next table had a great time relaying my anxiety on his cell phone. Had to share.

Tried this for dinner in 2003 and it was the worst meal I have ever had on Disney property. The food was gross :crazy2: and was a total waste of money, in my honest opinion. Was there for over an hour, it took 20 minutes for my server to come over for a drink order, then never came back. When I wanted to leave, I actually had to approach another server to find mine and it was another 15 minutes before the server came back, threw the check on the table and left again. Also, only 2 characters came by the whole time I was there (Minnie & Chip).
