Chef Mickeys - calling the night before for an ADR ?

Do you think people will cancel their Chef Mickey ADR for dinner, if they can not attend, to get their $10/person deposit back ?

It is a 24 hour before ADR time cancellation policy - correct ?

So if we want to eat at Chef Mickey's for dinner on a Thursday night, we could call on a Wednesday afternoon and see if a table may have become available ?

My DD and DS last minute request to eat at Chef Mickey's.
DH nixed Chef Mickey's off our list at our Christmas 2011 dinner discussion.
So no Chef Mickey's ADR was ever made. Now no ADR's are available for any date we are in WDW

You could wait until the day before, but people can cancel up to the day before the reservation to avoid the penalty so you could start checking multiple times a day on line starting now to see if something comes up. If I wanted a reservation for a specific day I would begin checking as soon as possible.

If you know you want to go there, keep checking. People will cancel between now and the day before.

If you wait until the day before, the only openings you'll get a shot at are those that canceled that day. If you keep checking between now and then, you'll potentially catch everyone who cancels between now and then. While the daily number may be higher the day before, the raw time between now and then will have many more opportunities for you to catch a table.

I agree- just keep checking the website. While you never know when things are going to open up, I've had really good luck in that last month or so before travel.
