Did I read somewhere that if I eat dinner at Chef Mickey's that they'll let us on the rooftop to watch the fireworks at MK? Did I read that or did I dream it. And, if it's true, how do I go about asking?

Sorry, you heard wrong - the rooftop is available only to patrons of the California Grill.

There is a public viewing area on the 4th floor of the Contemporary but anyone can use it, there's no special access for Chef Mickey's customers.

You're right, Nala...it was California Grill I'd read that about. Couldn't remember.

If you choose to watch the fireworks from the 4th floor observation deck don't be surprised if there are a lot of people already out there, because they try and get spots up front early.

Yes, you can watch them from the 4th floor but plan on being there at least 30 minutes early because it fills up. They have benches up there and its a good view, not great... but decent.

There is actually only one bench and it's located in the front row of the observation deck.

We like to have an early dinner at CM, then take the monorail over to the Poly for EWP at 9 and fireworks from the beach. We always seem to be in WDW when fireworks are at 10PM, so this plan works well. The fireworks view from the Poly beach is outstanding!
