We are heading to Disney in 3 weeks. Starting to make our dinner plans and were wondering how Chef Mickey is for dinner. We have done the breakfast a few times and wanted to try them for dinner. Any comments? We have also done Donald's breakfast at Animal Kingdom which I think we will do again. Also have done Sci-fi at and Prime time cafe at MGM. Any other ideas for us? We are trying September this time to go see the Mouse hopefully the crowds are low. Thanks for the input.

I like Chef Mickey's for dinner. I remember they had really good broiled fish and roasted chicken. I remember they had really good cheesecake too. The kids had chicken nuggets and carrots.

We love it, but we have 5 kids. I think it depends on what you are looking for in a restaurant. Can you give a little more information please? Also you may, not sure, have a difficult time getting ressies so close to when you are going. You may want to make some PS asap.

We love Chef Mickey's and we start each and every trip there. We have done breakfast and dinner and although I like them both, we prefer dinner. Every time we were there they had two different meats on the carving block....prime rib and something else, they had a section with kid friendly foods, salad bar, dessert bar and a ton of other selections. We always get our fill and walk away with a full belly, in my opinion you can't go wrong at CM.

We went to Chef Mickey's on our first night a year and a half ago. I did not enjoy it but let me tell you why...we had just flown cross-country with two little boys (ages 5 & 20 months), we were hot, tired and I had a migraine. If we had scheduled it for a night when we weren't so tired, I think we would have enjoyed it much, much more.

What I did like about it---I thought the food selection was very good. I think there were two different carved meats (ham and beef?), roast chicken, cheese ravioli (mickey shaped, so cute), a very tasty broiled white fish, a full selection for the kids- chicken strips, mini hot dogs, pizza & mac and cheese, salads, fruit, side dishes like parmasan mashed potatoes and steamed veggies, and the desserts were great. Cheesecakes, chocolate cakes, pies, tortes, make your own ice cream sundaes with tons of different toppings. And the character interaction was good, esp compared to our experience at Goofy's Kitchen at Disneyland we had two weeks ago. the characters were quick to come around and sign autographs and take pictures. We saw all of them and never had to sit around and wait after we were done cause all the characters hadn't come by yet.

I would probably do it again, but definitely not on arrival night. Although for some people that is a great way to get an initial taste of the magic. Just not for us traveling from Oregon. :p

We like Chef Mickey's for dinner and for breakfast. We have 3 kids and they like the different choices in food. And yep...chef Mickey's can get a little loud and crazy....but we love it!

Always a fun place, breakfast or dinner. And wonderful for kids, napkin waving time!!!

Chef Mickey's had been our traditional first night dinner when we didn't live close to WDW. As a matter of fact, last week we brought the kids on property and they asked for CM. Mind you, Friday night and no PS=no chef mickeys. They really enjoyed the Concourse Steakhouse.

That being said, my kids have been going there since 19mos and 4 years old, respectively. One son can be rather picky, but he's nuts about a lot of the food items.

There's a carving station with prime rib, and sometimes ham. The stations have other meats, but these are the ones you can get fresh carved. There's always a couple of pasta dishes I love the garlic potato dish they seem to have each time we're there, while DH and the sons have enjoyed a yummy risotto. The kids station has pizza, mini hot dogs, macs and cheese and other kid friendly stuff. The salad bar has about 20 items and has fresh fruit-my 5 year old loves to get a plate of fruit. MIL and SIL have dietary restrictions and they've also been able to get some great stuff that met with their diets.

Desserts are at a separate station, and include make your own sundaes or frost your own cupcakes. The 5 yo believes that cupcakes are frosting delivery devices, so you can imagine what a cupcake looks like when he's done with it.

Character interaction is top notch. In the average dinner seating, we've usually seen each character twice. And who can help but twirl a napkin around and celebrate.

I would agree that you probably wouldn't want to do this after a long plane journey, but we usually hit here after 6 to 8 hours in the car and a couple of hours decompressing at our resort.

You are wise to visit during September, it is usually quieter.

Any other restaurants you're curious about?

Lots of character interaction. Very busy! Glad we had a PS. Got some good pics of our niece & nephew waving their napkins. Fun place.

I have never eaten at CM yet but will in 3 weeks as well. You may want to try Liberty Tree Tavern also. Very good and good character interaction at dinner time.

Chef Mickeys Rocks!
We eat there the first night in Disney, and the last night too. We love it, the food is good (love those mashed potatos!) and we have had great interaction with the characters at both breakfast and dinner. My kids were 8 & 10 when we went, and they have already told me that is where we are going on our first night in Disney next August!

There are several threads on the restaurant board about CM's. We can't stand the place. Food is horrible, overcook, cold and tasteless. It is extremely loud and the service sucks. We even had to get the server from another table to go get the characters. They bypassed the area we were in 3X's. we had been there 1 1/2 hr and never saw a character come near us. All the kids in the section we were in were in tears watching all the fun "downstairs". Which leads to another gripe.... kids, buffets and stair do not go together.

We were at Chef Mickeys for dinner over Easter break. There were 5 of us. We all sat at the table and nobody said anything. Finally, I said is it just me or is this food terrible? The whole table agreed it was definately not worth the money and we will not do it again. We have been to many Character meals and never had one as bad as this.

im not a fan of Chef Mickeys at Dinner...dont know quite why...but the kids I go with just dont like the food. :confused3 seems to me its the same as all the other places...but for some reason they dont like it.....

As for the adults...everytime I have been at Dinner the service is always bad...drinks never refilled, plates sitting on the table forever, etc. etc.

Breakfast there is Great...although I prefer OHana's breakfast...but Dinner at Chef Mickey's is a definate avoid for my crew.

We love Chef Mickey's! When we were there in March in addition to the Prime Rib, they had turkey! I LOVE turkey! We've never had any problems with service or bad/cold food. But we've never been there during peak season either.

We love CM's for dinner we have to go for dinner every trip. You will not be dissapointed with it lots of great food for you and your kids.

Thanks for much for the information. Since there were more great reviews than bad, I am choosing the dinner at Chef Mickey's. Thanks everyone!
