Which would you do?

Or would you recommend something else - just me and my DH.

Would be interested in your views as to which is best and why?

Thanks in advance.

First let me say I am a huge Pooh and friends person, with that said, I have been to the character meal at the Crystal Palace and to both the breakfast and dinner character meals at Chef Mickey's and by far Chef Mickey's is my favorite. The food was delicious at both, but the energy and the character interaction was just so much more fun at Chef Mickey's.

Both great places, but with different characters and atmosphere. Decent buffets at both places. Characters circulate quickly at both places.

CP has Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger. A bit more elegant and quieter. Great character interaction.

CM has Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald. A more lively atmosphere, and fairly loud. More colorful black/white/red decor. Characters are dressed in chef attire.

Since the characters are very different, you might focus on the ones that you/DH like better.

I'm the opposite. I personally like the atmosphere of Crystal Palace more even though I like the characters at Chef Mickey's better. It is a really pretty setting and more relaxing atmosphere than Chef Mickey's to me. Chef Mickey's seems very busy to me. Both are great. You can't really go wrong with either.

We definitely prefer the food at CM. CP was good first time, not so great the second. CM more consistent.

We definitely prefer Crystal Palace. We like the food better, the characters better and don't find it as loud and wild as CM.

If your more a fan of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto go with Chef Mickey's.

However if your more a fan of Winnie the Pooh and all his friends go with Crystal Palace.

I think the food was FAR better at Crystal Palace. Maybe CM was having an off day, but it was horrible.

I also thought CM was too loud. I much preferred the atmosphere at CP. It is a much prettier restaurant and the character interaction was great.

We are going there for breakfast and dinner in 2 weeks!

Thanks everyone for your replies. :thumbsup2

I think I'm leaning towards CP...... but then again might decide to do both!! Will see what I can get when come to book ADR's!! :)

We like both!

If it were just DH and I we would choose Crystal Palace, with an early adr for breakfast, on a day with no morning emh at MK. We like getting into the park early while the streets are basically empty. It's a chance to get some nice pics of the castle.

My husband and I were 1st timers at WDW and it was our Honeymoon too! We opted for The Crystal Palace and made reservations. The food was wonderful (buffet style) and the characters all came to the table and were so adorable! They never missed one table and danced and paraded around. Even for a luncheon it was GRAND! The waitress staff were absolutely delightful and gave us a beautiful gift frame for this being our Honeymoon and a nice big Card from Tigger, Pooh and all the gang who signed it.
We did not have the opportunity to be go to Chef Mickey's but the price on this place was very reasonable from the comparison I saw online. You will be very happy at The Crystal Palace. Was our favorite dining experience of all!

We enjoyed both places!! But for the overall experience and character interaction I would pick Chef Mickey's as our favorite:) We are so excited to be going back again this year!!!:cool1:

I say go for CP breakfast because you can get in the park super early and take pictures of an empty Main Street and the food is really good!

I think the food is substantially better at CP. I like the atmosphere better at CP too. That being said, we usually go to both every trip.

It depends if you want to have your meal with the fab 5 or Pooh and friends! Both are more or less typical buffet food.
It also depends on which meal you are thinking of having in the resturant as to decide timing with going to parks.
I preferred the breakfast at CP to CM because of the cinnamon sugar french toast, but I like the fab 5 more and thought they circulated the resturant more efficient than CP.

Wowser! So I gather that the food is actualy different at CM and CP. :confused3
I have done CM before, but not CP. Looking at their menus I assumed that it was essentially the same food served in a different trough. CM was better than expected IMO. Maybe I'll have to check out CP on a future trip.

We were glad we picked Crystal Palace. We went to the COncourse which is sadly not gone and Chef Mickey's so was loud DH investigated the buffet and said he was sooooo glad I didn't pick CM he was none to thrilled.

The added bonus of being in MK in the am before it opens is very neat!

ENJOY whatever you pick!
