Chef Mickey, Fireworks, timing question

Good evening,

Just finishing up on some planning for our upcoming trip. It is mine and my oldest ds's birthday, He is taking me out for dinner. At first we were going to do the Luau, but after reading mixed reviews and the cost, I decided that I would rather to Chef mickeys. Since we have a 2 1/2 year old with us it would be better I think to do the character dinner. My questions would be were do we go to view the fireworks from the contemporary area. I know I have seen it before listed but can't seem to find the information. Also What time would be best to make my ressies for so that we can view the fireworks. Can you also see the water parade from the contemporary? Thanks so much!

I know this doesn't exactly answer your question but last Saturday we had dinner at Chef Mickey's for my DD's 4th birthday. Our PS was at 5. Then we made some pictures out back of the contemporary, hit the potties, then the monorail to MK and were there in time for Spectromagic(7PM). We weren't up front, but the kids stood on the brick planter in front of City Hall and could see fine. We went down mainstreet against the crowd and with a stroller (go through the shops as much as you can!) over to tomorrowland indy speedway. We skipped that on our Dec trip so that was the #1 priority. From there to Dumbo and wishes(8PM) started while we were on Dumbo. It was fun being right underneath the fireworks and my kids enjoyed the much more than the view from mainstreet. They said it felt like they were actually a part of the fireworks, but they are a little loud from there!! We actually saw the EWP from the ferry, but had we hurried instead of leisurely taking our time to the front, we could have gotten over to the Poly for the EWP before it began.
