This is just a hypothetical question

Many people say they love Chef Mickey for us the characters are great but the food at dinner isn't worth it for what they give, price and quality. Breakfast buffet food is better then the dinner

So if Chef Mickey didn't have the characters at dinner would you still go for the food?

I would go for the Mac and Cheese alone - and even pay a buffet price just to eat it! Chefs at Chef Mickey's have the recipe dead on!

I don't go now - we just don't care for the food and can find the characters elsewhere

I wouldn't go back to Chef Mickey at all. We tried it for dinner over Thanksgiving and it was our least favorite TS meal.

We love the breakfast and would consider going if there were no characters...We would NOT go for the dinner without the characters...In general we are not wild about the lunch and dinner buffets at Disney...The food is always a little off to us...So, no we would not go for dinner if there were no characters but we may consider going for breakfast.

We were just there for the first time for dinner last week and to say the food was mediocre was being kind. If we had paid to eat there (we had free dining) I would have been sad. Like a PP said, we can see the characters elsewhere. Though with that all said, we've never attempted breakfast. Maybe that's better.

We have eaten there without characters - long, long time ago. The price is what makes it unattractive without characters. If it was around $19.95 for dinner, then we would probably go because of the variety of foods. I voted no on the poll, based on today's price.

Nope - we have it tied with Tutto as the most overrated, subpar restaurant on property. We hardly can handle it with characters, but our daughter likes it (we love Contemporary) a lot. We already told her though during our breakfast in May, that we won't be going back for awhile, and she said that was ok as they have to learn how to work things better and cook better food! Out of the mouth of babes!

I only go there for the characters, and there is no way I would eat there without the character interaction. Their breakfasts are better than their dinners, and I wouldn't even eat breakfast there without characters.

I make time for Chef Mickey's just because of the atmosphere, which the characters are a big part of. I wouldn't go back if the characters were not there, unless they changed the food.

I've never been to Chef Mickey's, but I've always thought that people go for the atmosphere. They go because you get to eat with Mickey and friends, not for the food (that sounds so weird! You go to a restaurant, but not for the food!:rotfl:) Maybe its just me, but i don't think that many people would still go without characters.

Ok I guess I will stick my neck out here and say that I voted for no characters. In fact I think I would like it better without the characters. But it's just DH and I so maybe that is a factor. He loved their prime rib. I really loved their parmesian mashed potatos and the mickey head ravioli. I was not thrilled with their dessert selection though. Forgot to say that we were on the DDP.

 100th post -finally! :worship:

I would go for the Mac and Cheese alone - and even pay a buffet price just to eat it! Chefs at Chef Mickey's have the recipe dead on!

See I don't get this why pay over $20 for just mac and cheese. I would rather go to Wolfgang Puck Cafe and get their mac and cheese for a lot less cost and really good mac and cheese

The food was average at best. Without the characters IMO there is no reason to go.

1) If no characters, we would not go.
. . . we usually don't go anyway
. . . however, we do get talked into it by the grandkids
2) The food is just too overpriced for the quality.

All the talk on the other boards about the virus at WDW, made me realize another reason we hate CM - it is dirty and germy! We always see so many unattended kids touching food, playing with ice cream dispensers and just all around spreading germs. We've eaten at every buffet on property, multiple times, yet we see this nasty behaviour here at CM more than any other restaurant. Not to mention that it's always dirty - food on floor, tables not always cleaned, etc.

I voted "NO", but honestly the only character meals we do, and have ever done, at Disney is character breakfasts. We would never do a character dinner because of the food. There are just too many good restaurants in the resort hotels to ever eat a character dinner. In fact, the only buffet we have ever done for dinner is Cape May Cafe and that was only because we were staying at the BC and my kids love clams.

We do enjoy character breakfasts however, and do several every trip. In May we are eating breakfast at: Ohana, Chef Mickey, Crystal Palace, Donald's in AK, and Norway Princess. We are also doing Kona (our only non-character breakfast).
