I know this has been discussed before, but could people share some recent experiences?

We have Chef Mickey ADR for a 10am breakfast on our last day but I was wondering if the dinner experience is better. The reviews about the food are never great so I thought breakfast would be better (hard to mess up breakfast food).

I just did dinner there about 2 weeks ago. I did breakfast 10 years ago, so I can't really compare. However, I thought the dinner was very good. The carving station items (ham and roast beef, but I think it varies nightly) were very good and the mashed potatoes were delicious. There were also Mickey ravioli and I'm having trouble remembering some of the other items. For dessert, you can make your own soft-serve cone/sundae and there are also brownies/cookies/mini cakes, etc.

I like breakfast buffets, loved Mickey waffles. It was really more about the experience. We didn't do dinner because it was August and I couldn't eat prime rib in Orlando in the summer. I am funny like that...

Both are loud and chaotic but I think breakfast is a little better. Like you said, it's hard to mess up eggs/bacon/waffles.

are the characters very active with you at this venue? we are looking at this option as well for our trip in oct or the backyard bbq . it will be our first time

We always do both one breakfast and one dinner each trip. We usually stay 10 nights so it's not hard to do and dont miss out on the other places.

Breakfast hands down is better. The night we had dinner there we had a 7:30 ADR and had to wait at least 45 minutes if not an hour to be seated. It was super busy. By the time we got up to go get our first plates of food it was about 8:45 or so. The character interaction was horrible and the service was bad too. I don't know if the characters and staff were ready to go home and had just shut their personalities off or what. It was like pulling teeth to get the characters over to our table and when they finally arrived it was difficult to get them to take photos with us. The food was mediocre at best. I would've been happier having McDonald's at that point. Dinner was not worth it and I swore to myself I would never to Chef Mickey's again for dinner and thus far have kept my word. Breakfast is still possible but not sure if I want to deal with the chaos again. We're trying to avoid buffet meals at WDW anymore.

The food at Chef Mickey's is better at breakfast.

Chef Mickey's is better than Mickey's Backyard BBQ in terms of individual character interaction. Mickey's BBQ is bascially a no holds barred free for all.

Breakfast was amazing, we loved the food! Yes the place was packed but it was fine, it is large enough to accommodate all those people. We ate late, around 10:30, and the food was very fresh and being replenished often.

Dinner was terrible, we ate at 5:30 and the food was just nasty nasty nasty.
