Chef Mickey Before MNSSHP

I have a party of 10 that wants to fill up at Chef Mickey's before walking over to MK for a MNSSHP.

We won't be using park tickets this day, so we want to be at the MK gates at 4pm. But, we also want to rest as long as possible before heading to the meal because we're trying to keep young children awake late this night. We're looking to book this meal Price Is Right style: as close as we can without going over :-)

We currently have a Chef Mickey reservation at 2:05pm. Since brunch seating ends at 2:30pm, my thought is that the restaurant will be emptying out while we're there and we should be able to get through all of the characters by 1:30pm.

Thoughts? Do you think we'll be safe with this timing?

Character meals generally take 60-90 minutes. And I know from traveling with a party of 10 once that large groups move at a slower pace. But, I do think you could finish by 4pm. My only concern would be by the time you make it over to MK at 4pm, you may encounter long lines at bag check and the tapstyles. We experienced this last trip, with the gates getting backed up around 4pm and 7pm. If its important to you to maximize your park time, you may want to line up there a little earlier.

ETA: Actually, if you're walking over, I think there's a bag check on the path so you wouldn't be subject to the main bag check. That would help.

Thanks. I've heard that the bag check on that path is usually pretty quick, so I'm hoping we won't be there too long.

In 2017, we did CM brunch before MNSSHP. Our adr was 2:15. The restaurant was still full with lots of people waiting to be seated. We were seated around 2:30 and walked up to the MK gate just before 4. It was pretty hectic! In retrospect, I would have moved our adr up a bit.

Out of curiosity, what time did you check in? I'm planning to arrive and check in 10-15 minutes early.

Right now, I can only get a 1:10 or a 2:05. 1:10 just seems like it'll eat into our pre-party rest time quite a bit.

About 10 minutes early. It does sound like 2:05 would work better for you. I just wanted to caution you against the idea that the restaurant was emptying out at that time since nearly every one there was also heading to MNSSHP (with costumes on to prove it) and, so, people seemed to be hanging out more than usual.

We almost booked a 2:20 res at CM, but I was afraid the food would be running low, etc., but it sounds like that’s not the case? If the good is still nice and fresh at the end of brunch service, I’m changing our res to give us more pool time that day (arrival day).

We did MNSSHP and walked over from the Contempo. The bag check was quick and easy, but we hit a huge backlog at the gate. The cast members have to attach a bracelet to each guest so the line doesn’t move very quickly. I would just mention to the Chef Mickey hostess that you’re going to MNSSHP and ask to be seated at a table that will see the characters as soon as they come out. That should help speed up your meal.

Excellent advice, thanks.

Good to know. I'm going to keep looking for something closer to 1:45, but I don't have high hopes given our large party size.
