Chef Mickey 1st timer..

I'll be going to Chef Mickey for dinner come this December. Party of of 6 including a toddler. What can I expect? How's the character interaction? Food? Thanks

We've not had dinner there, but have gone for a late breakfast during practically all of our Disney trips!! Needless to say, we love it at CM!! The experience starts with the monorail ride to The Contemporary Resort. We've always thought it's soooo cool to go right into the hotel!! Disney takes a photo of your group before you're seated and they bring it to your table, but you don't have to buy them. We've always loved the food and there is something for every taste. It is a fun, vibrant atmosphere and character interaction is excellent!! They visit each table and are very patient with autographs and pictures! We've never felt rushed at CM and have always had a great time there. Have a 'Magical' time (we'll be there in Feb!!)

We were a party of 6 last time we ate dinner at Chef Mickey's. we love it there! Characters were awesome! Spent time dancing with my son and being silly with my older girls. We actually like the food there. You won't be disappointed.

Another fan of Chef Mickey! My family loves it! I would second the comments from dworldlovers and lovemy3girls. We did Chef Mickey for dinner in Feb 2012 and my kids (DS7 and DD6) have insisted on it again for Feb 2013. The food is a buffet which some people immediately will turn up their noses at. The buffet food is pretty good, and has something for everyone. Believe me, like most Disney meals, there will be more food than you can possibly eat. I wanted to go back for more, but my stomach would not allow it. It is what it is, a buffet, and for the most part the food is good.

The character interaction is great! The night we were there it was Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto. They spent plenty of time at our table, and allowed us to take many pictures. We skipped the group photo at the beginning. It is a photo with your whole group with a Chef Mickey statue. That's right, a statue, not the real Chef Mickey. We knew we probably wouldn't buy it, so we skipped it. We were there for the interaction and pictures with the real characters.

Lots of reviewers don't care for Chef Mickey - the food or the characters - but we love it. I can't imagine a trip to WDW without a Chef Mickey meal.

Agree...but we have loved it every time we have gone.

We went this last trip for breakfast for the first time. We loved it! DD, age 2 at the time, really had good interactions with the characters. We would definitely go back.

I think it's someplace you have to go at least once, expecially if you have young kids in your party.
That said, I'm one of those who hates the place.
I will say that breakfast is better than dinner imo.

We ate here for dinner in 2011 and absolutely loved it. All of us swore it was our favorite buffet we had been to so far, we sent back this past sept and had a 8pm dinner our first night there. It wasn't as good as last year. The food dishes were empty we were very rushed and I felt like it could have been better now the DH still loved it. Two days later we returned for breakfast. It was awesome the food was great the interaction was enjoyable and I watched Mickey interact with a young boy that was severe MR he took his nose and rubbed it on the boys nose and the boy smiled and babbled like a baby, it was so moving it brought tears to my eyes. That whole table was crying when Mickey left. It really pulled on the heart strings.
We will def go back prob for breakfast only next sept

I love Chef Mickey! It's one of the few we repeat and can't imagine a trip to WDW without going there. The food is buffet so you have tons of choices. I liked it. I also thought the characters were great (but you will see a lot of people here complain about them as well as the food). My family loves it! We went there for my birthday this year and I absolutely love their birthday routine. It's fun and just feels like Disney to me.

No Photopass but there is a Chef Mickey picture they take when you first get there (if you want) and then they come around and offer it to you if you want to buy it. But for the walk around characters, you need your own camera at all of the character dining.

Chef Mickeys food is not very good to be honest. Below average in my opinion. I can think of a handful of other buffets that have far better food. But Chef Mickeys should most definitely be experienced at least once in your disney life! The characters are so wonderful. I have to admit. Your toddler will love it.

Although I have to say, if the toddler is the ONLY kid in the group, if your party consists of mostly adults, I would go somewhere else.

I third this! From a food perspective I loved Tusker House. Also I found the Donald Duck Characters were great ( dont think Mickey was there).

What I do find interesting though about CMs is the location. If its your first time, it's worth the visit to the hotel and seeing how the Monorail goes through. To be honest, you can also eat at the QS,right next store if you want that Contemporary feeling.

CM's is not bad, I have already done it 2x and only go because my son insists.. He likes the Monorails wizzing by and watching the birds flying about. But you can also get this at the QS.

We went there in 2009 with my son who was turning 3 on the trip. I would compare the food to Ryan's, Sizzler, Golden Corral if you are familar with those. I like those just fine, but CM is 3-4times more expensive.

Be aware that you can meet most of the characters at CM relatively easy in the park. Also, keep in mind that you may end up with a child who is terrified of eating with a giant mouse. (The table next to us had that situation).

I'm hoping it won't be too much and Disney does not increase the price because it is close to July 4th. My in-laws told me CM now has a baked potato fixins bar. Anyone experience it and how did you like it?

I have been going to Chef Mickeys at least twice a year dinner & breakfast DH & I are going mid July for dinner NEVER had a bad experience food OR characters
That being said, I would never compare the carving station meats to a Golden Corral or Sizzler or anything like it The Chefs there should be commended
As far as a baked potato fixins bar, I don't recall there being one We'll have to see

We are going on our 1st trip to WDW this Dec. and we booked Chef Mickey's for dinner. I have heard it isn't the greatest but we are mainly doing it for the 5 yr old and 9 yr old in our group.
