First visit to Chef de France next week and the DF is looking forward to it. Any fans of the restaurant offer personal faves?

Hello! My dh and I both really loved the French Onion Soup - it was very cheesy and good. For entrees, my dh had the tenderloin, which was great, and I had a shrimp dish that was also very yummy. They had great dessert choices here - you can't go wrong with any of them! have fun!

thank you so much.

we figger it will be a matter of what looks best at the time, but the famz was really digging the menu when we checked it out last week.

The creme brulee and chocolate mousse cake are divine. Our entrees left a lot to be desired.

Appetizer-The wild mushroom and four cheese tart is yummy!

Onion soup is very good.

The last time I was there I had the Duck breast-excellent!

Macaroni and cheese (gratin de macaroni)- it's so good! Huge portion, too.

I love the French Onion Soup and the Escargot. I always hate deciding on which one I want as my appetizer...lol

I do usually enjoy the duck, however the last time I ordered it, it came out luke warm. I didn't advise the server, because we were in a hurry that evening. It wasn't disgustingly cold, that I couldn't eat it, but I did notice it was not that hot. However, other than that one small thing, we have always have had great food, and wonderful service!

I'm going to second that! We went to this restaurant on day 7 of an 8 day trip. By now, I was getting a little tired of trying to pick food from a menu, so I went with "comfort" food. Wow - I wish my mac and cheese was so good! (And by the way, I won't eat Stouffers or any other prepared Mac & Cheese - it has to be home made.)

thanks to you all for the shared experiences. sorry you didn't enjoy your meal, MissBritt. may i ask what was unimpressive about the meal (food? service? not what you were looking for?)?

We had the BEST service I have EVER had at any establishment (and I was a server for years). We had special needs at the time and they were met perfectly, by the manager and waiter (Jeremy).

However, we found our entrees to be bland- so bland that I salted all of my food and I use salt so infrequently that the same bottle of Morton's we have at home has lasted more than the 3 years I have been married.

I had the filet (which was cooked perfectly) with the beans and potatoes, DH had the roasted chicken. Neither of the dishes had any flavor, and his was dry. Salads were good, desserts were great, but the entrees were tasteless.

Had we had the time (we didn't, we were rushing to Candlelight Processional), we would have ordered replacements. For the price (over $160 after tip?), we are leary of going back. CdF was my second choice that night after LeCellier, which there were no ADRs for 90 days out.

I had the filet and it was so delicious. It might have been the best filet I have ever had. I had the fruit for dessert and it was really good too.

Although I will say that our meal there was nothing like the food we had when we went to Paris.

Maggie

I'm a fan of the tomato and goat cheese flatbread and the goat cheese salad. It's big enough to make it a meal. The escargot and onion soup are okay; I've had better, but they are both okay.

I've had several of the entrees and have not been overly impressed (the meat has always been over cooked) so I like sticking with a salad and an appetizer.

The creme brulee here is hit or miss and I don't know why. Sometimes it's very very good and other times it's too sweet and thick.

I am a huge fan of lunch but we do not like dinner at all...

We had a wonderful dinner here in 2008 with outstanding service. Both of my teens insist on a return visit this trip. We loved the onion soup, the filet (yummmmmy, that night, at least, it was cooked perfectly medium rare), and the short rib. DS adored the mac and cheese, said it was the best he's ever had. The only disappointment was the tuna, which was supposed to have been "seared," DD even specified she wanted it rare, but it came out pretty well-done. The desserts didn't stand out in our minds, so I guess they were good. We are going to try lunch this time, but we'll probably get at least one of those yummy steaks au poivre!

I was just looking at the menus on allears as I'm trying to plan my ADRs for a trip this September. The lunch menu only had 4 entrees on it. Is that really the case? We'd really like to try CdF, as neither my friend or I have been there before...

For appetizers, all of the tarts (flatbreads) are delicious! The lobster bisque used to be awesome, but it's just okay now.

For entrees, the shrimp and scallops are good. The baked macaroni is awesome, but I don't know if you would want a whole dish of just that. I recommend not choosing the short ribs.

For dessert, the profiteroles are outstanding!

I loved the onion soup and the escargot (but I love any escargot).

I thought the dinner entrees were severely lacking.

DH had the duck - it was cold, greasy and bland.

I have the short rib - bland, bland, bland, and served with crummy egg noodles when it really needed a good potato or other root veg mash.

The special, with the roasted chicken and whatnot, looked very tasty. I should have ordered that, but I didn't want to get dessert there. I wanted something from the patisserie (the lemon tart - my fave for all time!).

We ate there 2/14, Valentines day. DS(13) French Onion Soup, Braised Beef Short Ribs and the Creme brulee. I had the perfectly cooked Filet, Med rare w/ no Potatoes, extra green beans. Love them.

It was a lovely meal, good food w/ great service but as another poster stated, it's typical Americanized French food done a la Disney!

There is a prix fixe menu that is $20 for 3 courses. I believe there are only a few choices on that menu...but there are other choices as well, just not included in the $20 deal.
