We had lunch at Chefs in December. My kids love this meal & always ask to return. Remy was there & even "squeaked" Happy Birthday to my DD.
First we were brought our bread. The bread was crusty outside & soft inside but not warm. We ordered the cheese plate as an appetizer. There is a brie, a goat, swiss & a hard cheese on the plate. The brie & goat cheese were very tasty but the hard cheese was well hard!
We must have been starving because we also ordered the Les Tarts des Chefs (original flatbreads) a la Flamme Alsacienne - Alsace specialty - creme fraiche, onion and bacon. This is sooooo good! The tart is made from a light pastry like a phylo. The crunch of tha bacon & the smooth creaminess of the creme fraiche is so perfect. These two things could have made up a meal.
My DH & DD ordered the Prix Fixe 3 Courses Menu for $20. The first course was the Soupe a l' oignon gratinee - Onion soup topped with Gruyere cheese. He ate every drop.
The second course was the Croque monsieur et sa salade verte - classic French toasted ham and cheese sandwich with a green salad. They loved this warm sandwich. I took a bite & it was great & I really don't even like ham & cheese so I would recommend it!
I ordered the Gratin de Macaroni - Baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese. This looked really good however it was just o.k. The pasta was alittle overcooked & the cheese sauce was bland. The ham & cheese sandwich was way better.
My younger kids had the chicken finger & french fries which were warm & crispy.
We were mot on the DDP so we shared dessert. We ordered the Assiette de sorbets du jour - Daily assortment of fresh sorbets. One was mango, the other coconut & the last we were not sure..but they were all refreshing & light after a heavy meal.
For the kids dessert they all ordered the big giant chocolate chip cookies. The chips were alittle melty just like they had come out of the oven.
Remy came by & "sang" to us during dessert.
This lunch was one of the best during our trip. Our server was quick & friendly. The food was delicious & we are looking forward to returning.
