Cheeseburger, no meat please.

I think anytime you get a burger at McD's you can be assured that's not "meat" you're eating! LOL!

Yes it is, don't you know they serve horse meat! :rotfl:

That was always a BIG rumor when I was a kid, that a "manager" at the McDonalds Corp. had bought horse meat.

When I worked at McDonald's, as a teenager, a customer came in and ordered a cheeseburger with no cheese. I replied, "So, you want a hamburger?", and they said, "no, a cheeseburger without cheese!"

:lmao: I couldn't get her to understand a cheeseburger without cheese = a hamburger :rotfl:
She was probably afraid you'd give her a HAM burger, but thought cheeseburgers are made with beef. :confused3

There is a restaurant here that uses such high quality Sirloin beef, that on the menu, they are listed as "beefburgers".

We were at the California Grill for dinner last year. I didn't see anything on the menu that looked good to me (I think I was having an off day). I don't eat meat and the fish just didn't do it that night. I ended up ordering the filet because the side looked awesome (and they were). When the waiter came to clear our dishes he looked at my plate and asked if there was something wrong with the beef.....without skipping a beat I said "Oh no-I'm a vegetarian!" The look on his face was priceless and my husband just laughed and laughed because I sounded so nutty......Next time I'll just ask for the sides.

yes - especially, as one person mentioned , years ago when there were less options. At McDonalds you can also order grilled cheese - though its not on the menu - can do kids meals this way. It is pretty lame though - warm bun with a tiny oiece of warm cheese - used to do it in a pinch for DD.

I think it was in the 80's, a friend of mine went to a Burger King in Manhattan.
He was with a friend who ordered a Whopper with no meat. When the person
taking the order said, "Whopper, no meat" into the microphone, the person who
was preparing the food stuck his head up and said, "No meat?" The person
behind the counter(looking disgusted) then says(into the microphone), "You
make a Whopper....like you ALWAYS do, and when you get to the part where
you put the meat on......DON'T." To this day when I see that friend, I make
him tell that story. popcorn::

I do! One of my favorite pregnancy cravings, both this time and with DD, has been Big Macs, without the meat. Yummy!

we do that at Taco Bell...

DS... Nacho Supreme... no green onion, no refried beans, no sour cream and no tomatoes....

Me.. Nacho Supreme.. no meat, extra sour cream no green onions

:rotfl:

i also ordered a Big Mac with no meat once.. the employee never even batted an eyelash..

actually - the Burger KIng story reminded me - make sure they also do not run the bun under the meat juices...have not eaten a Whopper no meat in years, but for a regular Whopper they used to warm the bun and run it under the meat somehow so the burger juices would drip down on the bun. It used to be a real pain to make sure they knew not to do this and to warm up the bun in the microwave. Just an FYI for vegetarians who may still be ordering these!!!! :sunny:

Reminds me of our cruise on RCCL. Our DD asked for a cheeseburger, "with just cheese and ketchup" I noticed the waiter looked a little surprised at the request. When they brought the food, she had a hamburger bun with cheese and ketchup on it, no meat patty. I think he got annoyed when we burst out laughing.

DD 10 has been a vegetarian since age five, and we order cheeseburger with no meat at McDonald's and Wendy's. Some of the workers have trouble with the order, but we've never been refused. At McDonald's, the magic words to get a grilled cheese seem to be "cheeseburger plain, no meat."

On a related note, I was a waitress back in high school and I had a lady go ballistic on me because when she ordered a "cheeseburger" I brought her what was listed on our menu as a cheeseburger: a bun, beef patty, ketchup, onion, and a slice of cheese. Apparently wherever she came from they called grilled cheese (cheese on toasted bread) cheeseburgers. She called the manager over and had a fit! Gotta love people.

Again, on a related note, my dad's family called grilled cheese "toasties."

So this would be w/o the onions, ketchup, pickle & mustard? If so I'll have to try it that way next time! I love grilled cheese! :lovestruc

After reading this thread last night, I was craving a cheeseburger so badly that I made my boyfriend get dressed and go to Burger King for me. :lmao:

As a teen I was a car hop at a drive in where a woman ordered a hamburger with cheese. I said to her, "so, you want a cheeseburger?" No, she tells me she wants a hamburger with cheese on it. She later received her order - a cheeseburger and had a fit. Turns out she did not want to pay the extra $$ to get a cheeseburger, only wanted to pay the hamburger price. She wanted to treat the cheese as a condiment on a hamburger like pickles. Too cheap!

OP - when you ordered your meatless cheeseburger did they put on extra cheese to compensate for the loss of the meat?

Really, are they on the menu or do you have to ask for them? Is it all of the Burger Kings? I would be so shocked to see that out here in hicksville.

I was in a "fine dining" place over the weekend. NOT a thing on the menu (besides a salad) that wasnt meat! Not even a pasta dish to get with out meat! I was starving and I get some lettuce!!!!! :furious: Its very limiting to live out in the sticks.
I've been to several BK's that are in small towns (road trips) and they've had them. It's called the BK Veggie and it's been on the menu, in the section with the fish sandwiches. :thumbsup2

Also, BK had an ad the other day for some cheeseburger topped with mushrooms. I wonder if they'd top my BK Veggie with some? :p

I hear you on the no-meat restaurants. What's really annoying is when all the salads automatically come with meat! Chicken Caesar, Spinach and Bacon, etc. *sigh*

Nope. That would be a good idea though! Because they did charge me the same amount of money!

Hey, next time, I should ask for the meat patty in a separate wrapper and take it home to my Lab! He'd love me for it! Especially since I'm paying for it anyway! I think I'm going to do that. They are really going to think I'm nuts in that drive thru. :rotfl2:

I LOVE the BK Veggies from Burger King!!!! They taste soooo good!!! I will only their fries, they fry them in a seperate fryer than the other food...no cross contimanation with MEAT! I need to try the 'no meat' idea at taco bell, sounds so yummy.

My sister always orders cheeseburgers without cheese when she goes to McD's or Wendy's, and I always think it's hysterical. :rotfl:

It makes total sense though, cause the $1 menu at McD's used to (they changed it recently, not sure if it still is this way) have a double cheeseburger, but a single hamburger was $1.19. So for 19 cents less, she could get two hamburger patties.

Unfortunately, she gets the wrong order from the Wendy's drive-thru probably 8 out of 10 times. She's called up the service number umpteen times, but now we've just gotten used to checking the bag before we pull away too far.

That's exactly why I'm iffy about ordering a cheeseburder no meat. Back in the day, my mother used to order a McLean Deluxe (remember those?) without cheese, and it was generally wrong or a huge problem.
OTOH, BK veggie no mayo doesn't seem to be a problem.

My son likes bacon hamburgers which aren't a normal menu item at McDonalds. Several times I've ordered him a "hamburger plain, add bacon" and he's received a bun with only bacon on it! :confused3 Guess I thought a plain hamburger still included the hamburger!

And his school menu always lists "hamburger with bun and cheese" - guess I'd go for the simple route of calling it a cheeseburger! However, when they get it, the cheese is already melted on it so you can't have just a hamburger (he doesn't like cheese). Call it a cheeseburger already!

And to answer your question, never ordered that for me, but ordered it a lot when the kids were younger to get (as another poster said) effectively a cheese sandwich. You can ask for it hot (kind of like a grilled cheese) or cold (plain cheese sandwich).

Also, none of my kids eat meat on tacos so going to Taco Bell is always a challenge. I've ordered a soft taco with just cheese on it and had them charge me extra! I'm like "no, I'm taking stuff off, not adding things on!" Now I know the proper way to order is "one soft taco, minus meat, minus lettuce" to not get charged extra!

You could just order a cheese quesadilla with no sauce.
