I just read that the National Cheerleader Championship will be held at WDW during my dates in February. I've think I've read posts before that this is a VERY bad thing. Anybody have any experience with the cheerleaders. We are staying at the FW cabins and should only really be doing MK and MGM. Help! what can I expect??

We have been while the cheerleaders were there and never had a problem. Some DIS posters have had problems with loud groups at their resorts, but I would not expect the cheerleaders to be at the FW cabins. We did see some cheerleaders in the parks but they were no more rowdy than your average teens. :earsgirl: Don't worry, the parks are so big, you will hardly notice any particular groups.

Forgot to say I've also been to WDW during Jersey Week and Super Soaps weekend and also didn't notice any particular crowd or behavior problems. :flower: (Had to slip that in when I saw you're from New Jersey! :goodvibes ). Seriously, we've even gone to WDW during Grad Nights (which are absolutely HUGE! They close MK to the public at night and open it for just the grads, but during the day, the grads are scattered throughout the parks) and never had any problems.

I was there in February this past year and had cheerleaders from NJ on my 7:30am flight. I cringed when I heard there was a competition the same weekend I was going to be there. But you know what.....the girls I encountered were very nice and well behaved and I had no problem at all. Yes I am from Jersey......and I try and go off season to avoid the mass crowds.

I may be clueless....but what the Heck is Jersey Week???

We went during a Nat'l Cheerleading Convention in March 04'. Our resort (ASMo) was really crowded and loud. But, the parks were not affected. I thought that it would be xtra busy in MK, but it wasn't !!!! :)

Here's what MouseSavers.com says about Jersey Week:

"Jersey Week" - Usually the first or second week of November. (In 2005 the dates are November 10-12.) The New Jersey schools have a teachers' convention, so kids have several days off and lots of people take this opportunity to go to Disney World. New Jersey is the single biggest market for Walt Disney World -- you do the math!

Really!!!! :earseek: :earseek: How the heck did that one slip by me. I didn't know Jersey week was in November. I am planning on going in November and really don't care to see anyone I know there. I am going to miss "Jersey" week .....I am going from the 16th to the 20th.

Hmmmmm....and I thought I was the only one from NJ goign to Disney

Been there Grad Nite, Soap Week, Star Wars Weekend, F&W and now.......Cheerleaders. But even a brave soul like me wouldn't go during Jersey Week! Thanks for the replies!

We have been there twice with the cheerleaders. I never experienced a problem with them in the parks, actually I don't think I even saw them in the parks. At the resorts (All Star Music both times) I did experience "annoyances with them. Nothing to ruin a trip or anything. Some of them were in large groups and would run all over the resorts with out and adult, jumping on the statues and other decor outside and in the food court. Actually some of them were with parents but the mom's were just gabbing and letting the girls do whatever. Some where up late at night screaming and laughing. Not all were behaving this way but the large group that was doing it was so annoying.

Other than that it was fine. :flower:

I also stayed at ASM once during Cheerleader time, and thought the parks were not affected I had to call guest services about 1:30 am, because they were very very loud. That took care of it.
I would just avoid value resorts while they are there, or find out which one there at and stay at another.
Once year it was December when Cheerleaders & basketball were both there, they closed MGM at 8 PM because they had rented the park just for them. It was disappointing because we just finished dinner around 7pm at 50's, and going to stroll to see Osborne lights and they said no park closing for private party.

I went in March twice with my softball team in high school. We stayed at All Star Sports, where many other sports teams were staying. We ran into baseball teams, lacrosse teams, other softball teams, and probably more that I can't remember. They were all very mature and we had no problem with them. The only groups that we couldn't stand were the cheerleading groups. They were so immature. You could tell which ones they were by the clothes they were wearing, the curlers up in their hair, the stupid glitter all over their faces, and the loud noises they were making. They were so rude and obnoxious by practicing on the grounds outside people's rooms . . . even at 11:00 pm at night! We were really mad about it because we needed our sleep for our games that were really early in the morning. Thank goodness someone in our group got a manager or something and they made them leave.

We definitely had problems with them at the resort, but the one good thing is that we didn't encounter them in the parks.
