Cheeky DLP! Jan 2012 - Day 2 Part 2 - More Studios and Characters

Hey everyone, thought I should make a start on my trip report since I’m now back from a wonderful weekend at DLP! This bit can be a wee intro, and I'll pop the links to the parts here when i work out how to do it!

Quick Reminder of the cast

Me – Amy, 19.
Scott, DBF, 22.

We had a great 4 days, took lots of photos, so i'm looking forward to sharing them with you!

Day 1 Part 1 – Travelling!

Our flight wasn’t until 12pm, so we weren’t rushed in the morning, but we had decided to go for breakfast at one of our local restaurants so I was up at 7am. I couldn’t sleep anyway, nerves! The reason for this will become clear soon!

So up at 7, and Scott was coming at 9. So I finished packing up and beautified myself. Scott arrived at about ten to and we headed for breakfast.

I got a sausage roll and pancakes and Scott got a light breakfast. No pictures! We are still in Britain

We walked along and exchanged our Euros, before heading back to mine for some final checks!

I was getting stressed because we were flying Ryanair with handluggage, I was worried my bag wouldn’t fit even though we had already tried it in the box thing a few days ago!

We walked the 4 minute walk from my house to the airport, and soon we were through security.

Before this though, we tried my bag in the box. It went in fine, I just couldn’t pull it out! I started to panic because the woman was watching me and I was like ‘she knows!!!!’ But scott pulled it out and it was all good!

We grabbed a drink at the bar, we were the only flight lieaving today! :O so the airport was pretty empty!

Soon we were boarding, got seats together and were off! The flight went really quickly, and soon we had landed and were through security at Beauvais.

Our driver from ezyshuttle soon found us and we were off. She helped calm my nerves slightly [you’ll find out soon!] and was brilliant! I would recommend ezyshuttle to everyone as it was so easy to arrange and they were great!

The drive was pretty uneventful, apart from being pulled over by the police, and they were talking very fast in French and kept looking a Scott weirdly, but we were soon on our way again.

Suddenly Scott pointed behind me and there it was, the castle! And space mountain and tower of terror and the Disneyland hotel and more! I was so excited. I couldn’t stop smiling and my heart was pounding!

Soon enough we saw the Hotel Cheyenne and our driver indicated and started to move across the lanes…..

Then at the last minute she pulled away and back into the other lane. I looked at Scott, he looked confused.

We then pulled into the Hotel New York, and I couldn’t hide the massive smile on my face! Scott was looking around as if to say ‘we are going the wrong way!’ and I just kept smiling at him, waiting.

And then he clicked ‘are we staying here?’ *nod*‘did you upgrade us? *nod* ‘you cheeky s**t!’

Hehehe.

We pulled up and got out, I paid the driver and thanked her for her help. She was brilliant. I had emailed saying that the Hotel New York was a surprise, and was told she knew the situation. I just thought she wouldn’t say anything, but she double checked we were staying at the ‘cheyenne’ and even pretended to pull in! Scott’s face was priceless!

Scott looked happy, and kept calling me ‘cheeky’ as we headed to check in. I was so excited, and glad he was too!

[the night before I had had a dream that Scott had found out about the hotel change and was raging at me! He kept shouting ‘BUT I WANTED TO BE A COWBOY!’ and shouting at me for going behind his back. I thought about it so much that I actually started to believe it might be true! WAAA. So I was nervous, and very glad he enjoyed it!]

Day 1 part 2 – check in and a big surprise!

We checked in, the girl was really nice, and we found we had a room on the ground floor just along from reception, bonus! This turned out to be great, no waiting for lifts or climbing stairs!

I kept annoying Scott by asking if he was happy, which he was!

We found our room, 136, and went in…..

The scene in front of me was not what I expected! Instead of two double beds, I saw a couch, two armchars and a table! I was confused straight away. I stuck my head in the toilet, immediately disappointed to see we didn’t have double sinks. But wait a minute, where was the bath?

I moved quickly into the room, WOW! King size bed, coffee maker, kettle, lots of closets, I ran forward and saw two sinks, leading to another bathroom, this one with bath and shower!

I couldn’t believe it, we must have done something right! I pulled the curtains and squealed at our view, there was Flights of Wonder, right there!

Scott opened the window/door, we could walk straight out! How good that walk would have been, but we couldn’t lock it behind us!

Oh well, we freshened up and headed to the bar for a drink. Hmmmm, what will I have?

Day 1 Part 3 – Café Mickey and Cocktails!

We nipped back to the room and grabbed our coats before heading to Disney Village. Well what can I say, I giggled with joy when I saw that in a mere 30 paces, we would be at Café Mickey! The location of this hotel is excellent! I was loving this upgrade, a brilliant room and we could roll to the parks!

We had a wander down the shops, taking in all the merchandise. One thing I will say, is that I was disappointed that everything was the same in all of the shops! They used to have shops that had unique merchandise, and it was much more interesting every time you went into a shop!

We were getting hungry so we nipped into Café Mickey to see if they could seat us early. This may have been a mistake, but we’ll never know.

We were sat at a table for four people, but it was soon turned into two tables for two, with about and inch between them. Once the waiter left we pulled the table out further, but I wasn’t happy. We should have asked to move but I never thought about it at the time. Soon characters were coming along and we had ordered our food. I had the fish and chips and Scott had the Pizza Royale. Both were good, but got cold as the characters were coming round!

We both got the apple pie for dessert, which wasn’t that impressive. The characters were standard, I was disappointed as I had wanted to see Stitch, Rabbit and maybe the Genie or Robin Hood. You can bet we were disappointed when we saw Rabbit and Stitch the next night!

Anyway, photos!

We paid up, OUCH, and then headed to the sports bar for a drink after we wandered some more shops. I got a glowtini and Scott got a beer.

The next round was an Apple Dazzler and another beer. I asked for a souvenir glass and got one, but wasn’t charged! Awesome!

We then headed back to the hotel, where I showered, then chilled on the bed in the awesome dressing gowns, planning our next day. Then it was time for bed!

Another great update what a shame about cafe Mickey! I really want to see rabbit to I have never seen him before!

Again that room is so amazing!

We got up around 7.15am this morning. Scott showered and I did my hair and got ready for our first day in the parks!

We headed along to breakfast and were seated in the parkside diner. We met these guys on the way

This is a cute restaurant, and I was glad to see it was NOTHING like breakfast at the Santa Fe. Very civilised, and pretty quite. We both had apple juice and filled up on the selection of hot food and pastries, including the best pain au chocolats!

On our way back to the room we ran into Mushu, who was out for Chinese New Year!

We left the room just before 9, and were soon at Disney Village. Scott got a coffee from Starbucks and I bought a Minnie watch, my other watch is in need of a new battery! Scott’s was also broken, and we both felt a bit lost without our watches, even though we had our phones!

We headed over to Disney Studios at about 9.20am. We knew that they usually let guests in early, and that everyone queues for Crush.

Indeed, at 9.35am, we were allowed in, and one family started running to Crush, clearly wanting to be first! We walked quickly and easily came second, but I stopped to grab some photos of the empty park as Scott kept going.

As I walked up I could see the runners heading back in my direction….uh oh. Right enough, when I reached Scott, he was being told that Crush wasn’t due to open until 12 at least, if they could fix the problem.

Well that threw our plan up in the air! We decided to head for Toy Story Playland.

I stopped to meet my bestos on the way, love these guys.

We hung about at RC Racer for 20 minutes until it was 10am and we were allowed on. I may also mention that I hadn’t brought gloves today. This was a silly move, as it was COLD!!!

Soon we were walking round the MAJOR long queue of rc racer, and were seated at the front of the first car of the day!

WOW, this ride is better than I had expected it to be! Love the bit where you just kind of ‘hang’ there and your stomach gets some air time. Hehe.

We decided to go round again while it was quiet and this time went for the back row. Completely different experience and we decided this was better!

Next up was the parachute drop, which was 15 mins while everything else was 5, weird! This ride was ok, we managed to get some amazing views over Disneyland Park, the castle and space mountain etc etc. But the ride was very tame.

Then it was onto slinky, this was a fun ride and faster than I had expected, I went sliding around!

So that was us done in Toy Story Playland, and it wasn’t even 11 yet!

Great start! Wow ye got a fab room at the HNY!! Do you remember the room number? Great surprise, cant wait to read more

We headed round to see what Crush was doing, he still wasn’t working so we headed into Cars Race Ralley. Love this ride, so clever!

We had a wee wander to Tower of Terror, which had a five minute wait so we ‘checked in’ [classic overused joke].

The CM here was fab, he kept raising one eyebrow at people and staring, so Scott did it back. He loved that. He asked us where we were from, we said Scotland, and he apologised for not having a red carpet for us. Hehe!

He came into the library with us and kept trying to scare Scott and kept falling over and stuff! Weird but was so funny!

Turns out he was in our elevator! He came up to us, raised his eyebrow and said ‘what a coincidence’

Once we were in the elevator, he rambled of load and loads in French, way more than he had to say, and then turned to us and went ‘you had NO idea what I was saying there did you?’ was hilarious!

The ride was great, as usual, I love the random ride sequence!

We came out and saw Peter Pan and Wendy so jumped in for a photo.

We went up to Rockin Rollercoaster which has a 5 minute wait, so we went on twice! Right at the front and right at the back! Amazing ride, but it was weird because after we came out of the loop on our second turn, our speakers broke! So we couldn’t hear any music at all! Just other people screaming!

It was really weird and it was amazing how the music changes the whole experience of the ride!

We headed over to Stitch and lucky us, the English show was in 4 minutes! So we jumped in, remembering James’ tip to forget about being British! It’s a good thing we did! :d:

Stich is a personal fav of mine anyways, and I love his voice, I cry floods at the film, love him, such a babe. So it was great to chat to him!

He started off all nice, chatting away to the kiddies, and then he came over to me! He asked my name and said I was very pretty and then asked if I had a boyfriend! I said yes, Stich got all angry and said ‘is he here?’ so I pointed to Scott!

He asked Scott his name and told him to fight for me! Scott had to get up and jump around making noises, was hilarious! Stitch won [because he had 4 arms] and he named a planet after me! Amytopia!

Anways, he accidently blew up the planet and got into trouble and as he was escaping he was saying bye to everyone and said ‘Amy I love you!’

It was amazing fun, the interaction was brilliant and was one of the highlight of the trip!

We came out and much to our surprise, it was characters galore! So we grabbed some photos with some rare ones you never see in Florida! And I danced with Donald, as you do!

We checked out the queue for Crush, as it was now working, but it was 40mins so we headed to the shops and into the animation building before staking out a good place for the parade!!

Next up…..Stars in Cars and over to Disneyland Park!
