Hi we always gate check our stroller but we are considering checking our stroller with our luggage. We were wondering what others had experienced with this. Our car seat has wheels on it so we wont need it at the airport.

TIA:wizard:

We've always been afraid of how it will get treated with all of the other bags. I know they don't use any white-glove service when we gate-check it, but I'm at least buying into the dream that gate-checking is safer on the stroller than checking it under the plane. :)

I agree on the being worried on checking it.... how well will it be packed in a bag?

I would be more worried about it making it on the plane vs how well it would be treated as we have checked our car seats before and never had a problem.

When something is gate-checked, it's among the last things to go in the baggage compartment of the plane, so you won't have to worry about your stroller being crushed by other bags being thrown on top of it. We gate-checked our stroller and used a bright red gate-check bag I bought online and it helped keep the grime off our stroller, plus it was easy for us to spot when we got off the plane.

I have gate checked and countered check my stroller (big evenflo travel system one) We have a bag for it so as to keep it clean or at least attempt to. Southwest and Contentinal have not damaged it either times flying with them.

I'm still undecided at wiether to gate check or counter check my double this year. I'm leaning toward gate check as our flight is at 7:45 am and I'm guessing my DD will want to "rest" before the flight.

I agree with the pp about a cover or bag for the stroller. the only times we don't use a cover on the stroller is when they are my cheap travel strollers (20 wal-mart special)

I usually gate check as I usually need my stroller prior to baggage claim especially if we have a connecting flight. Plus I usually travel with a lightweight mid-range stroller (MacLaren or similar) and would be scared to do anything other than gate check it even in a bag. I have checked a carseat before, but it was my cheaper use in an emergency backup seat. My expensive seat stayed home.
