checking waitlist ?

At 11 months we booked a 2bdrm BLT for us and a 1bdrm at AKV for a friend, with the hopes that at the 7 month mark (today) we could switch them over to BLT with us. Well BLT WAS available when DH called 1st thing this morning, but as the CM went to complete the reservation, it was gone. Luckily, she was able to get back our AKV reservation. So we decided to waitlist for BLT. How do I check on the status? Is it on the member site along with our other reservations?

I remember reading other posts where people have 'checked' and have been surprised to see theirs come through, but I'm not sure what they are checking.

On another note...I was surprised we couldn't get a 1 bdrm BLT (any view), OR a 2 bdrm Kidani...BUT BWV 1bdrm and 2bdrm ALL VIEWS were available for our dates (Dec 15-23rd). It makes me think that folks are going after those larger rooms with the extra bath.

By checking your vacation reservation status on the DVC site, you can see if your waitlist has come through or not. There may be other methods, but that one is simple.

Thanks. So the existing reservation would just change from, in this case, AKV to BLT?

Correct. And I believe you would get a different reservation number, as well, but don't quote me on that. lol Also, MS will mail out a confirmation letter for the new reservation (i.e., your waitlist) should it come through, which is how I've often found out my waitlist was filled. I remember being waitlisted for a couple of months once, figuring the closer we got to the date, the less likely it would get filled. Grabbed my mail one day, and there was a letter from MS confirming my new ressie for my waitlist! I love those kind of surprises. . .

Only around 50% of BLT is DVC. The other 50% is CRO cash guests so BLT is hard to book.

I think so too. I know that since AKV and BLT have come on board, those are the 1 bedrooms that I'm most tempted to get. I wasn't a fan of the large rooms at OKWs so that wasn't a preference for me. But how I wish that the older ones had that extra bath/sleeper chair.

I also think that the BLT 1 bedrooms are popular because they sleep 5 and the others do not. Even if the other resorts allow 5, there is no bedding or towels, yet at BLT there is. So, even though points can be more, not when you compare the 1 bedroom to the 2 bedrooms elsewhere.
