That moment in time when your plans are all on hold pending the announcement of the hours, and especially the entertainment schedule....

I think I have as much planned for my Sept. 13th-17th trip as possible, but by golly I wish I could figure out when to get Frozen pre-show package, and what the parades will be doing.

I've just about resigned myself that fireworks will probably only be on the Friday (we leave Sat. afternoon) so that'll be hit-or-miss, depending on the "winds at higher elevations". I'm pretty reconciled to standard off-season reduced hours, as in the previous years before the 60th. But I'm still kinda bitter about the all-but-confirmed rumors that PTN will be dark. Waahhh!

Oh, well. It's Disneyland, with my sweetie. It'll be great regardless. Just wish I could get on with the itinerary!

I feel your pain. I could've written this exact post myself. Me and DH will be there the same week! I'm super excited but very anxious to see the schedules. I'm used to WDW and planning for those trips months in advance. Planning this trip to DLR certainly is very different! Hopefully we won't have to wait much longer.

I'm in the same boat...on pins & needles wanting to firm up my schedule...just waiting on DL to release their 'final answer' on the entertainment. I've all but given up hope on PTN...but am now anxious to see if the schedule has me missing out on Mickey and the Magical Map!

You and me both. I'll be there 9/9-13 and I'm trying to finalize my Chef's Counter reservations depending if they have fireworks. I'm also trying to decide between the dessert party and the happy haunts tour which I can't do until I hear details about the tour. I'm glad I finally know the hours but it would be nice to nail down my final plans.

I know it's very difficult to plan without knowing the full entertainment schedule :( That said, we do know that they will be showing Fantasy in the Sky fireworks, most likely just on Fri, Sat, Sun non-Halloween party nights. I don't know if any of you have seen those fireworks, but it's a very basic 5min fireworks show, a bit of a letdown really. Tink didn't even fly. I saw it last year before they rolled out the 60th entertainment and couldn't believe how run of the mill the show was. I'm just putting this out there to let everyone know that if you had to decide now between making reservations for a nice dinner or going to the fireworks, I would chose the nice dinner. You can probably find a video of the show on YouTube to give you an idea.

5 minutes?? Yikes! That IS a disappointment! On the other hand, if they cancel due to high winds, I won't feel like I missed that much.

WOW! 5 minutes?!?! There's really no reason for me to make a point to be DL at night at all...F! is dark, PTN on hiatus, I can catch the Soundsational parade @ 4:30...might as well hop over to DCA at night.

If it makes you feel any better, Fantasy in the Sky (in some variation) is what most of us probably grew up seeing. So, if you try to think of it as nostalgic, maybe that makes it worth it? I do remember watching it as a kid and thinking it was the greatest thing ever. But then, I also saw it last February and was less than impressed. Of course, the other perk, back then at least, is it didn't really matter if you viewed it from Main St. or elsewhere as it's just generic fireworks. So maybe it will help traffic flow.

I'm pretty disappointed, too. I was planning to surprise my mother with a day trip for her birthday to see the new firework show, but we wouldn't be able to get out there before it shuts down. Now I'm not sure it will be worth the cost of a 1-day ticket with so much closed.

I'm simply don't understand why DL can't get a schedule out sooner. At 6 weeks out, all you get is hours. If you're lucky, a week or two later you get the parade and fireworks schedule. Even Six Flags can get out a schedule 3-6 months in advance. Why can't DL?

As for Fantasy in the Sky, if it's only 5 minutes long in length, they should showing that each night. A 5-minute barrage shouldn't be much of a public nuisance.

Seriously? You're kidding right? Surely they wouldn't have their only night entertainment be a 5 minute show running weekends only?

Yeah, that's my big beef. I don't think WDW would ever allow something like this - cancel all the night time stuff M-Th and then offer up peanuts on the weekend. So frustrating for people like us who know what the other resort does.

It's super unfortunate about the proposed lack of nighttime entertainment at DL this fall (and the loss of the pixar play parade in DCA, if that ends up being true). While we REALLY wanted to experience PTN again, I am trying to be optimistic and realize nighttime entertainment could mean less crowds and will certainly make navigating DL easier and more enjoyable.

Exactly. I am going 9/3-9/8. I expect the 3rd and 4th to be moderately crowded because of blackout dates. I expect the 5th to be extremely crowded and then I am keeping my fingers crossed for much lighter crowds on my remaining days.

I am checking daily too. I just saw that 9/15 DCA has very limited hours. 9am to 5pm to be exact, but WOC is still listed for that evening at 815pm.

What's going on in DCA on 9/15 (a Thursday) that would cause it close at 5pm!!

So, I thought the previous poster saying Fantasy in the Sky was 5 minutes was exaggerating the shortness of it. I thought, "Oh, time flies when you're having fun. It can't be that short!"

The I hoped on YouTube. Almost every video of it has it at under 4.5 minutes. That really is a short show!

So it seems he was exaggerating. It's not as long as the estimate! :faint:

Yeah, Fantasy in the Sky is very short. They are using it as a placeholder just like they did between the end of Remember... and Disneyland Forever, only we don't know how long this will be. I've heard rumors that they need to make changes to the staging area because of Star Wars land and running this simple show is probably to accommodate that. Still, all the fall cutbacks must be tough on those planning trips (and also why I scheduled mine for August, even though I'd much rather go in October). Hopefully, everything will be much better coming out the other side of this and things will gear back up.
