I bet someone here remembers the Florida attraction where they had "springs" where young ladies would swim and perform as mermaids. I can't think of the name but I believe it closed a few years ago. Can anyone fill in the details?

Also, in our search we came across an attraction close to Orlando where they have glass bottom boats. Is it worth the trip?

THANKS!

Weekiwachee springs is now a state park. I believe they still have performing mermaids, a beach, and a ride or two. The only glass bottom boat rides I know of are in Silver Springs, I haven't been in years, but it was alot of fun. It is not very close to Disney though.

went to silver springs a few years ago, relaxing day for parents but enough to keep the ankle biters occupied .close to orlando? i think i drove to it in one and a half hours

I live in Weeki Wachee and it is indeed the place you are thinking of. There is a nice boat ride that takes you a wee bit down the river, allowing you to see the wildlife (mostly manatees in the winter.) The mermaids are still swimming and showing their tails (so to speak) and Bucaneer Bay (the spring fed water park) is open during the summer. Weeki Wachee Springs State Park link
