When we checked out of BLT last week, DH and I took our luggage downstairs ourselves since we only had one suitcase each. However, we left our Owner's Locker in our room and went to Bell Services in the lobby of the Contemporary to inform them of this. We were told that they weren't supposed to go into the room if no one was there to pick things up. They agreed to do it for us "this one time" because Magical Express was due to pick us up soon and there wouldn't be time for us to go back.

What we can't understand though is this: If they can't come into your room when no one is there, why can Bell Services put your luggage in your room that arrives on Magical Express while you are in the parks or elsewhere on Disney property? It just doesn't make any sense to us. :confused3

Has anyone else had this experience?

I'd say it's more about the responsibility of the luggage. There's a difference between dropping off something and taking something.

I also would never feel comfortable in counting on Bell Service to collect a piece of property without being there to make certain they got it. What happens if they get busy and forget b/c it is not a usual thing to do? Then housekeeping comes in and to them the items would be considered abandoned. It could become one big mess.

As far as I know, ME is the ONLY time that bags can be delivered to your room without you being there.

When we've used bell serivices for either arrival or departure we were always told that someone had to be there in the room.

We stayed at BLT one night and the service from Bell Services was REALLY slow. My clue should have been the firm instruction to "stay in the room" when I called to have the luggage delivered. It took forever, almost an hour as I recall.

When we left, I called Bell Services to come get the Owner's Locker and my DH started to haul our luggage down to the car himself. He'd made several trips to load the car before Bell Services finally showed up. Speed is not their thing.

When the take your bags, they give you a bar-coded receipt. If you're not there, they wouldn't be able to give you the receipt.
