Checking out on Christmas morning...

We are checking our Christmas morning and beginning our 18 hour journey back to Indiana.

This is our first holiday trip to Disney World. What can we expect along the interstates? Will we find places to eat by lunch time? Be able to get gas?

We plan to have a full tank of gas to begin with, but just wondered what things are going to be like.

Will the hotel (Swan) have places open for breakfast?

Do a lot of people check out that morning, or should it be pretty quiet?

I'm checking out the day after Xmas. I would assume that Christmas day checkout will be quiet, I even think the next day might be quiet. have fun at Christ,as time, this is a first for me and I am looking forward to it.

I have driven on Christmas. A lot of the fast food places are NOT open, but I have never had trouble finding a gas station. As the day wears on things open up a little more.

MY FIL and MIL drove back on Christmas Day one year, and I believe they said that Denny's were the only restaurants open. This was along I 75. I would say most fast food places would be cold.

I haven't driven the route you will, but did drive home from VT to CT one Christmas. I was a little surprised by how many places were not open. Even the McDonald's off the highways were all closed. We ended up stopping at hotel restaurant. You might want to see if AAA can offer any guidelines or, on your way down, ask at the stations where you stop whether they'll be open. I don't think check-out will be a problem and WDW is in full swing Christmas Day. Have a great time.

As to checking out 12/26, I don't think that many people will be checking out but many will be checking in.
