checking in

This is my first trip to Disney since I was a kid (about 22 years ago). We are staying at an offsite hotel the first night we arrive to Orlando. The next day we start our adventure at the ASM and the parks. My question is, does it matter how early we check into the resort. I've read that we can check in and leave our luggage and then head to the parks and then return later to check into our rooms.

Check in as early as you want. Your luggage will be stored, and you can get a full day at the parks.

Check in early, leave your things with the bell service (front desk) and go to the parks and PLAY!!!!! when you come back you can pick up your luggage!!

I have read that you can't check in "early" before 8am. But they will hold your luggage for you.

Check in early! Our plane arrived at MCO at 6:30 am so we got to check in at the Grand Floridian very early. I'm so glad we did because we got the room we wanted! It worked our great.

We always do this.
Our drive is approx. 10 hours, so we spend our first day of our vacation driving, stay in a "cheapie" hotel the first night and unwind from the drive. Then get up early, head over to the Disney Resort, check-in, and get our room keys that double as our park tickets. Most of the time, our room is not yet ready, but we head off to the park(s.) By the time we're tired and ready for a break, we head back to the resort and get into our room.
Works for us.
It should work for you too.

We switched resorts on our honeymoon from the Beach Club to the Polynesian. I wanted to have a good chance at getting the room we requested, so I was at the Polynesian at 7 am and had no trouble checking in. The bell people took my bags and I was all set to go!
