We are checking into Animal Kingdom in September and 2 people in our room are not arriving until the middle of the night. My question is does anyone have any experience with all people in the room not being present at check-in? Disney says everyone in the room must be at check in. What should I do?

I think I would call AKL and ask them for advice - it may simply be that those arriving later must stop at the desk to get the KTTW cards.

I agree with the PP. I'm sure its just to get their cards. My DH was arriving a day after we arrived 3 years ago, and thats all he had to go and pick up.

That is what happened to us too. My daughter came in later and had to go to the front desk to get her key card as they would not give it to me and she was staying in our room.

What if a member of my party wants to meet us at the parks and not check in at the hotel first? Since they combine meal credits, will his credits be on my card?

No, they won't give you their meal credits until they check in.My DH and I were going to take seperate flights and they said he had to go to the front desk and check in before they added his meal entitlements. That way they knew that he was actually showing up and me not trying to get extra credits.
The same thing applies to people showing up later during the duration of your trip even if they are in your room.
hope this info helps.

But you could meet in the park and use your credits until the other person checks in and they will then get their credits:thumbsup2

Do they check ID's? That the name on the reservation is the name of the person checking in?

Yes, Disney does check ID's of everyone 18 and over.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

Would this really work? If the first key only has one person's credits on it, and they try to put two meals for two people on it, will anything come up saying the credits are only for one person? I've never tried it - I'm just curious, especially during free dining when they don't want to feed anyone for free that's not entitled to it (which the second person would be - once they check in).

I would 'suspect' that you could use 2 counter service credits simultaneously as these seem to be less monitored. You may encounter more difficulty trying to use to table service credits at the same time as Disney seems to be monitoring these much more closely. But then again, if they are still just in a 'pool of points', does the wait staff know how many are on each reservation? I don't know about that one. But, wouldn't the other person still need to check in at the hotel to get their key to the world card which would have their park ticket on it? :confused3 (unless maybe they are using an annual pass)

Absolutely. There is no way to check in at any disney resort within showing them a picture ID. You certainy would not want someone taking your reservation. We have been asked for a picture ID from either one of us 100% of the time when checking in.

Not sure about the meal credits, but I think the bigger concern would be park admission. If they didn't check in at the resort, they wouldn't have their park admission either, right? (unless you didn't book a package)

Also, if they are coming in during the middle of the night, why wouldn't they have the opportunity to check in at the hotel, before the parks open? I guess I am not understanding:confused3
