Hello -

We will be moving from Hard Rock to POP on a Sunday. I will have a rental car, and am thinking it may be worth it to drive over to POP in the morning and check in. My daughter is in a cheering competition and we probably won't be heading over to POP until after dinner that night. I would like to not get stuck in a room far away from everything, do you think my chances will be better if I head over in the morning? thanks!

I've found through my own experiences that the later you check in, the less of a chance of getting the room you want.

Go for it!!! :teeth:

I agree with travelin tigger--that's why we'll be doing the same thing as you. We are at RP in April and plan to zip over to Pop and check in early, then back to US to enjoy the rest of the day with FOTL access. We check in after 4:00 PM at the A/S last year and not only did we not get a room at the Movies where we were confirmed, we were moved to the Sports....now that really stinks. so this year we won't be checking in late again.

The earlier you check in, the better chances you have of getting the room you want. However, the downside to this is that the room might not be available until later on, but at least it can be blocked for you. Since you will be heading off to the cheering competition, this might not be a problem for you. I'd also recommend dropping off your luggage with Luggage Assistance. They will deliver it to your room within an hour of it becoming available, so that when you return to the Resort, the luggage will already be in the room waiting for you. :)

Hope it is okay if I "hop" on with my question...

Tyler, does that mean since we are driving in on Easter Sunday and won't arrive until 6:00 pm that our chances are slim and none on room requests :(

Does Disney frown upon bribery?? lol I could bring some pralines and beignets to help ;)

I'm guessing that on Easter Sunday we will be booked to 100% occupancy. At that point in the day, we will still have several hundred check ins that haven't come in yet probably. It really depends on your specific requests, though. I mean, with 2,880 rooms, there's bound to be something that comes close to meeting them. Unless of course you specifically ask for a king bed room in building 6, 3rd floor, overlooking the foosball courtyard.

thanks for the reply Tyler :)

Actually, the only request I have right now is trying to upgrade to the 60's preferred building. My spoiled DD's think that they have to stay in that building.... I've been calling everyday with hopes of a cancellation. At this point if we could see the 60's building I'd be happy.

I am assuming that since the rooms are so new smoke isn't really a problem yet. ?? My DD is allergic to smoke. Are the non-smoking rooms just cleaned after a smoker uses it or are there smoke detectors? Looks like I am getting off track I better start my own thread before I get too far off topic.

thanks again, Jon
