Well, I fear that the worst has gotten me...

We are arriving at WDW tomorrow night and staying at Pop Century for the night. Then on Sunday, we're transferring over to the Polynesian. Our plan right now is to check out of Pop early, ask them to transfer our luggage and then head to the MK by opening (9am). We're having lunch at the Plaza at 1pm, then we were going to go to the Polynesian after lunch and check in.

Here's my concern and I wish I didn't care, but I so do.

I want to be in Fiji or Tahiti. I have that noted on my reservation. Does it matter when I check in? I could go over to the Polynesian while everyone is going to MK and check in for all of us, then meet up at the park. Would that give a better chance of getting my requests?

Like I said, I wish I didn't care, but I do. I don't want to be in Rapa Nui, but I guess the others would be ok....

So what do you think my best strategy would be?

Thanks.

If I were you, I'd *try* to go by and check in before you go to MK. (I know that is awfully early.) We HAVE found that the earlier we check in, the better our room is.

Hey, I can make it happen....

I'll have to figure out if it would be worth it for me to take a cab from Pop to the Polynesian and then monorail it to the MK. That might be the fastest route, you think?

that's what i'd do. you can check in as early as 6-7 am.

Okay, why don't you all cab to the Polynesian? Still let Disney move your luggage (or take it with you - luggage transfer isn't necessarily fast)? If there's a short line, they can wait for you, then you can all take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. If it looks like check-in will take some time, send them on to the park and meet up with them when you're done.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, maybe while my family is asleep, my mom and I can take a cab over to the Polynesian, check in, and take a cab back to Pop before anyone even wakes up.

I'm liking THAT idea.

The only thing that is preventing this, is:

1. There are 8 of us travelling together and I don't think we'd all fit into one cab.

2. We're having a wheelchair rental delivered to Pop at 8am from Randy's Mobility. It is for my grandmother (who is turning 85 on August 4th - go grandma!). I've already made these arrangements, so they cannot be changed.

3. I don't mind going over early and then going back to Pop.

I'm going to go and call my mom now to see if she's up for this with me!

Just be sure to tell them at check in that you are willing to wait (all day if need be) for a room to be available in one of the buildings you want. They will probably give you a phone number to call later in the day to find out your room number. - Good Luck!

It's best to check in early even if your room is not ready but remember there is never a guarantee that you will get a requested room. Other threads have proved that it doesn't always matter if you check in early or late when room requests are involved.

Hey, I can make it happen....

You sound like me. "...sure I can get up and start the 9 hr drive at 4:00am..."

I didn't think about the 'how ya gonna get there' factor. I guess a cab would be the best bet. All depends on how bad you want it. You may could get lucky and ask the front desk and get a ride...hey, we HAVE done it before and got a ride to Epcot....long story, unlikely, but it won't hurt to try. The worst they are going to tell you is 'no.':confused3
Like someone mentioned, you aren't guaranteed ANYTHING, but granted past experience, I'd say it'd increase your chances to try earlier. Good luck and let us know how it worked out!:cheer2:

As others here have noted.. earlier is indeed better for these things.
