Checking in on a Friday

We have to change our April 2013 trip to checking in on a Friday. We have always traveled Saturday to Saturday, most people I know seem to travel the same way. Is there any concern I should have about this? I was just wondering if we may find it harder to get our room requests if we are checking in on a day when there are not as many people checking out. I know that the resorts are usually not completely booked up but we are traveling the second full week after Easter so it will be a busy time. Am I being silly worrying about this?

I've never thought of this - our checkin date is a Friday as well, so I'm curious!:wizard:

We always travel midweek to avoid the heavy vacation crowds on the weekends and have found the checkin lines minimal, if that helps. We usually get our requests. Of course I don't know how many requests you have or what they include.

I have done check ins pretty much every day of the week, and I think the choice of rooms depends more on the time of day you arrive rather than the day of the week. First thing in the morning, all the available inventory is yours to choose from, but as people continue to check in that pool gets smaller, and smaller. So if you have very specific room requests, the earlier in the day you can arrive, the better the odds are that your requests can be met.

I do agree with this totally. We always try to check in early in the day but unfortunately this time I think it will be afternoon. We only have a couple requests (POFQ connecting rooms close to food court) so I guess I will just cross my fingers and see.
Thanks everyone!

We just did a Friday check in on the 20th at the Grand Floridian, and everything went just fine. Magical Express was quick and easy, and we even got a minor upgrade to a higher room category. We didn't make any pre-trip room requests, so I can't help with that part of the question. Room was ready when we arrived at 1:30PM, and no line at all for check in.

I've checked in on Saturdays twice, once in the late morning and once in the later afternoon, and got my room requests both times. Both times were before online checkin was available and the check in lines were super long.

I've also checked in late on Thursdays (5pm and 9pm), had no lines at check in and gotten my requests. I've checked in on Friday afternoons and had no lines doing online checkin and gotten my exact requests. I've also checked in on a Sunday afternoon and minimal lines (before online check in was available) and gotten my requests.

Over the years I haven't noticed any differences when checking in on Fridays, or on a weekend day.

I really don't think it will effect your trip, or your room requests. I hope you get the room of your dreams, and that you have a wonderful time!

I've checked in on a lot of Friday mornings, the lines are shorter and it seems like we get better offers for upgrades or free upgrades. In fact, we've started pretty much booking standard rooms and then upgrading when we get there. Especially at the S&D we always get some kind of amazing upgrade for FAR less cash than we would have paid if we had just booked it first. In May we went from a standard room to our preferred epcot view with the 2 balconies - I think its the deluxe alcove room? Anyhow, it was like $20 more a night, much cheaper than booking it that way. Honestly, I can't remember the last time we weren't able to upgrade.

Not to be snarky but you asked and the answer is yes. :lmao:

People check in and out of Disney resorts every day of the week. It amazes me just how well Disney handles the flow of people. Very few are disappointed with the check in process (although about 100% of those disappointed seem to post here). I really wouldn't worry about it at all.
