We're having a heat wave in the CT River Valley - it got up to 14 in my backyard this afternoon - it was -5 when I got up this morning. I just keep thinking "why aren't we on Timberline Drive...."

I know, I am right there with you. I am in Central CT as well...but the kicker is...my furnace broke today...brrrrr..

thank god for the fire place and space heater!!!

Hmmm... Central Connecticut here also (Cromwell). We too are longing for Timberline Drive.

Geebs - I feel for you - our furnace decided to act up yesterday - thanks to some long gone mice who decided to build a next in it!!! Stay warm.

Not Central but Southern Ct, Not much better here!! Our furnace is the original of the house....52 years old!! Still works great but my DH keeps opening the cellar door to listen making sure it's still on!

Best wishes to all you Conn. Yankees from a former Hamden resident. Keep warm up there and stay well.

It got all the way up to 17 in my part of mid Michigan today.

Stay warm, sweetie

I know this is really a stupid question. So accept my " I am so sorry for being an idiot" in advance. But...

What is a furnace? Is that something in addition to central heat and air?

That is what the people who don't have central heat use to keep their houses warm. Some use gas, some oil. Some use wood burners. Growing up - my parents had a big old furnace in the basement that burned coal and wood. You had to keep running downstairs and add coal or wood all day long. At night you had to bank the furnace.

just an update...the furnace got fixed!!!! only after it went down to 40 degrees in the house. brrrr thank goodness for a fire place. Things are nice and toasty inside now. But of course..now it is snowing outside. Aghhh...get me out of here...I am counting the min til I am at BCV in FEbruary!!!!!
Thanks for all of your well wishes
