Checking in at different times: paying for DDP?

DH and friend are arriving at BWV on January 7 mid-morning. Another friend is arriving later that evening. Another 3 friends are arriving on January 8. All are on the DDP. Yes....I know that they have to have the DDP for the whole stay and we know we'll have extra credits.

How would they handle paying for that? Would it ALL have to be paid at one time, when DH and his first friend check in?

How do you handle this with staggered arrivals???

The first guest to arrive and check in will need to pay for the DP since all credits will be encoded on each of the room keys. As credits are used, they will be electronically debited from all of the cards.

I'd suggest that subsequent guests be prepared to reimburse whomever checks in first (and that the first guest be prepared to collect the DP charges from the other guests on the reservation).

Okay....makes sense. We understand what to do.

Now, if we all check in at the SAME time (which we most likely will when we switch resorts) can we all pay separately???

Probably. The resort should be able to divide the DDP into as many separate payments as desired. As long as the DDP bill is paid in full at arrival, they won't likely care how it's paid.

They can do the same thing at checkout for settling up charges to the KTTW card. All charges made to the room account will be on one card, but may be paid separately at the front desk if desired. Just let them know if you want to pay your charges in that fashion and you can just go to the desk to pay and not use Express Checkout.

Good luck! :)

And just to add a little -- in late September I was able to pay for my adult kids DDP at BLT prior to their check-in. I had asked MS about it, and they said as long as it was the day of arrival it would work. I did NOT give any of them charging privileges :thumbsup2

So there are ways to work out paying for someone else when and if the spirit moves.

One thing you may do is have the people you are traveling with buy and then send you Disney Gift Cards for their share of the dining plan.

They can each get a gift card for the amount of their dining plan, and you can use them yourself to pay when you check in.

And yes, you can split the cost of the dining plan amongst many people checking in. I have done it many times :) I travel with friends a lot and we each pay for our portion of the dining plan.

I usually make sure that my Mother In Law arrives first when we are on the DDP. :rotfl2:
