Checking in after 9pm, will room request be granted

I am going to fax a room request. We have never arrived late at night before so I am very nervous that I will be placed in a room no one else wants. Has anyone checked in that late and had their room request honored?

We never arrive before 2 or 3 p.m. and we usually get our room request honored. Especially at the Poly.

It really depends on the request and the time of year that you are traveling. If the resort is full, then yeah, you may get a less desirable room. I have checked in late many times, mostly between 12 AM - 2 AM and I usually get what I want, namely non-smoking and either connecting or adjoining rooms. I don't ask for a specific building or floor but I have never gotten a room that was less than desirable in my opinion. Then again, I may just be lucky or just so happy to be on vacation that I don't care!

Summer before last we arrived terribly late - 3:30 a.m. due to our train being delayed by eight hours. I was pleasantly surprised that our room request was granted. We had aked for a corner king in the building near the food area (at CBR) and we got it!
I did not fax anything - just noted it in my reservation. It made a very long day end on an more pleasant note. And the resort was full (not to capacity but very high occupancy rate) so sometimes I think luck has a lot to do with it - or is it pixie dust?

On the contrary my two last stays at the GF we arrived around noon and neither time our requests we granted - in fact they were exactly what we had NOT wanted. So go figure.

You might have better luck having your requests in your reservation. Many of the resorts are ignoring faxes. By having it in your reservation they don't have to match up the fax with a reservation it would already be there.

Keep in mind it is a request and don't let it spoil your vacation if you don't get all your requests.

I would say don't make your requests too specific. Or at least if you do, don't get your hopes up too high. The fact is, the earlier you arrive, the better your chances of getting all your requests met.

That being said, if they can't accomodate you the first night, they could always move you the next day, if something better comes available. Disney is very good about doing that.
