Hey guys, I just wanted to make sure that this makes as much sense to everyone else as it does to me before taking the plunge on $2800 (!) worth of tickets!

So my fiance and I are heading to Disneyland this weekend with some friends, and we were planning on just buying the Disney Signature Passport ($849) instead of a 2-day pass ($199).

We are also getting married this year and heading to Disneyworld in December for a 15 day honeymoon, and were planning on buying a 10-day park hopper ($515).

We discovered the existence of the Premier Passport ($1439) and realized that we would already be spending $1364 this year which is only $75 less than what a Premier Passport costs.

So basically, it makes sense to pick up the Premier right? It sounds like we'll get access to the highest discounts available, and also get things like Max Pass added that we normally wouldn't have gotten with our Signature Passport. Also if we decide to go to Disneyworld more than 10 days we're free to visit as many times as we want. I just wanted to make sure we're not missing something before we committed to 2 Premier Passports this weekend!

Thanks guys!

I didn't check your prices or your math,
but having an AP of any kind at WDW
(especially with a trip lasting a couple of weeks)
will get you some good savings, so there's that, if nothing else.

Yes, in your situation I would definitely pick up the Premier Passport!

The annual access to MaxPass at Disneyland alone is a $75 cost, so you're breaking even at worst. Although I wish Disneyland didn't charge APs for MaxPass, it definitely makes visiting the parks at least more convenient. It's less than a 10% upcharge but it makes visiting the parks more than 10% better.
Then, as you point out, the ability to come-and-go between the WDW parks will be huge. You'll also have access to the water parks, mini golf, and more during your trip.
You'll have Memory Maker when you visit WDW. So you can take all sorts of fun pics on your honeymoon.
You'll get all of the discounts at WDW on merchandise and a good selection of dining (not as good as at DLR, but you can still come out ahead there). There may or may not be passholder discounts on hotels while you're there, but that would be gravy too.
Also, you now have the option to sneak in one more trip to WDW during the year. Although technically that doesn't "save" you money hahaha. And even if you don't do that you're no worse off.

And finally, you'll get the beautiful Premier Passport that you can keep in your wallet. This is a zero dollar value, but carry it around with you and every time you see it in your wallet you will feel like a Disney VIP.

Why are you doing that?

If you NEED an AP for Disneyland then it's fine to start from there for calculations. But I'm not seeing why you have that plan.

If you're only going to Disneyland for 2 days, why not just purchase a 2 day pass? Are you planning on being at DL additional times this year? If not, it doesn't make sense to buy the Signature Passport OR the Premier.

That's what we thought too! Thank you so much for the great reply Bryan, we are insanely excited just to carry the card around haha

We're actually moving to LA in a month or two and are planning on visiting Disney a bunch more, hence why we're picking up the APs this trip!

I did a Premier passport one year as my husband and I were doing two trips to Disney World and one trip to Disneyland in a 365 day time period. It worked out to be a close comparison when looking at JUST the ticket prices. What really was a pleasant surprise for us was that Disneyland offers WONDERFUL discounts to their passholders just about everywhere in the park! We usually go to Disney World and the passholder discounts in the parks are certain restaurants/shops and very few of those being counter service restaurants. The Premier passport, when used in Disneyland, was 15-20% off almost every shopping and dining establishment we visited. We definitely came out ahead on the upgrade and....carrying the card around was pretty sweet too! :)
