We are leaving in less than two weeks and I have been buying c. suns and water like crazy. Have they started to check backpacks since 9/11? I would hate to get caught sneaking stuff in.

Yes they check your bags at a security table before you enter the parks...

but they are not checking for water and juice...they couldn't care less if you bring that stuff in. Enjoy!

Someone told me they saw security guards ask a woman to drink water from her bottle before she entered the plane.

Piece of un-solicted advise. Pack everything in you backpack in a few see through ziplock bags. We did, and got through really fast. Some of them had people unpacking the bags themselves, and you are left repacking.

I thought the OP was referring to checking backpacks at the park. Maybe not? Either way, I would think that any unopened water, juice in a backpack would not be a problem. Probably didn't want the woman to have an open container of liquid for take off.

Ooops!! Sorry about the slip up. I guess that shows you where I'm thinking. I was wondering how to take water on t he plane so I didn't have to buy it down there.

When airport security was making people drink from opened containers they were carrying, it was an effort to make sure that the containers really held beverages, and not flammable liquids that could be used to set a plane on fire. There was a huge outcry over an incident with a nursing mother carrying bottles of expressed breastmilk. She sued after she was forced to drink some of the milk, and that convinced security to drop the requirement.

Bag checks at Disney parks are only looking for weapons, alcohol, and/or glass containers. They will not stop you over food/soft drinks or make you discard them, unless your drink is in a glass bottle.

We have been twice since 9/11.

The last time we were at Disney someone at the checking table infront of us had a bottle of alcohol taken from them.

Never had a problem with taking water or pop with us.

As long as you are only carrying a small amount in your backpack don't worry about it. They will however not allow you to bring in a large coolers filled with food and beverages.

We have had our bags checked twice now since 9/11 and honestly I have to say it was a breeze. We brought in water and snacks and I felt safer knowing that everyone was checked, you just never know.

You can, however, bring in small coolers filled with food and beverages, so I'm sure they don't mind if you have a few bottles of water in your backpack.

Cooler Policy for Theme Parks & Water Parks

Coolers with food and/or beverages are allowed in all the parks except Animal Kingdom, where you can only take in a cooler to hold medication.

do the lines get long for this? Do they also check fanny packs too? Most of our stuff will be in a camera/pack with our video and still camera. It holds two water bottles, visible from the outside and I will probably bring suncreen, band-aids and a few eat-in-line snacks. I guess this will be ok???

They will check backpacks, purses, fanny packs, camera bag, they may make you open up your jacket if you have a big "bulky" jacket on.

When we went in April 2002 it really didn't take that long. Then again we got to every park early????
