Has anyone ever checked a wheelchair at the port with their luggage. We just booked our 5th Disney cruise. Our son is a full time wheelchair user and has two chairs. We got him a power chair when he started high school because the school's campus is so far flung and as he got bigger pushing himself became more taxing.
For our first four cruises he made do with his manual chair. He spends most of his time in the teen club and we stay in cabin 5552, so he has a relatively short commute. The carpeting in the passageways makes it a little bit more difficult and he would usually ask one of us, a friend or a staff member to help him. We are thinking of bringing his power chair to give him more independence but still want to have the manual chair because it works better in tight quarters like the dining rooms.
One of us could push the empty chair around the port and the ship before our cabin is ready but it would be easier to just drop it off.
