What is the status of the experiment for the OKW checkin? We liked the old way better.

Please, please tell me it is back to the old way!! I will be arriving around 3:30 pm Thrusday at OKW and expected to have my requests honored based on order of reservations made. I think their test of first come first serve was the most ridiculus thing I had ever heard.

When you say first come first served, do you mean first resv. made with requests gets it first? Or is it, first to show up for check in? I guess it might make a difference on choice of flights in the future, if it was the check in first one.

I just got back on Friday and it was first come, first serve as far as check-in. I posted a thread about this today which goes into more detail.

This is interesting because I just got back (checked in Sunday the 13th) and they had a room assigned to me before I checked in and it was not ready until 4:00. When we got to the room at 4:00 it was in the building we requested. I was under the impression that it was back to the old ways.

I'm glad to see others have also confirmed this policy. I've sent my emails that I do not like this "trial" policy but who knows how long it will last. I think it's totally unfair if you make your ressie at 11 mos out and then since you get there at noon, and others who just made their ressie 3 weeks ago get there at 6:30 am and get a more choice location. What can you do, just voice your opinions!!

It was only supposed to be a 2 or 3 week trial, but apparently it must be working for "their" benefit or they wouldn't keep doing it, it's been going on well over a month now. I guess we'll just have to be patient!!!! ;)

And yes "first come first serve" means just that - you arrive at 6:30 am you have your pick of the place. I just read a thread where someone got there at 7:45 and they said they have already had a LOT of checkin's that morning. I know when we arrived at 12:30 or so they told us that had a lot of checkins that morning already as well (which that was mid-September and this was already a rumored policy going around, which indeed was true, and people were getting there as early as possible and obviously still are).

May it change soon ...............!!! :)

I say they go back to the old (correct) way of pre-assigning rooms. The CM's can tell these irate guests (see Tigger7570 separate post) all rooms are pre-assigned, the house is full, this is all that is available. My other two timeshares tell me when I receive my confirmation letter which unit I will be in. Now that's pre-assigning. I know DVC doesn't want to tell usthe unit number because they give us the room key when you check in and you have to call back for unit number, which I like this procedure.

Is this just an experiment at OKW, or is it at other DVC resorts as well. Speciffically I'm interested in HH's policy. Does anyone know? What is the point of making requests:confused:

I was wondering about that too. Why pick on OKW? I am wondering if it is a lot of non-members who stay there that are the problem. They would be the ones not getting their requests in at the 11 month window!
